Our room was lovely with lots of period features, including a tapestry above the bed. The hotel owner was very helpful and provided useful recommendations of places to eat and how to do what we planned to do.

The Hotel is extremely well located in El Escorial, the dinning area is very nice and as an antique but updated look.

Location - breathtaking, unique and quiet; it's high on the mountain in the forest, far from civilization.
Room - unusual, fun and comfortable; it's an old monk/nun room, but with all modern amenities.
Staff - polite and helpful; the hotel is a real monastery, where most of the people are monks, and you can hear them praying and doing their job.
Food - authentic and delicious; for 15 euros I got a 3 course meal (2 meals and a dessert) with wine and water, all ingredients were fresh and the food traditional.
Overall it's like entering a different world - unforgettable and totally worth it!

It’s 45 minutes from Madrid but very quiet and peaceful place, exactly what we were looking for as a family of 4. Idyllic rural villa perfect to disconnect with villages around to go out and dine

The Monastery El Escorial is breathtaking beautiful--worth the visit.
Most waiters /restaurants owners in the Old City, do not speak English and the menus are mostly in Spanish. But one Restaurant owner organized for us a translator for the next evening !! verry much appreciated. We tried a traditional Spanish dish --of Tomato meat balls and it was excellent!!
To avoid the crowds : better to go in an off season time to avoid the heat and crowds

Easy to get to from Madrid (one hour on the train).
Easy to get to from Madrid (one hour on the train). Very steep roads but taxis were very very cheap to get around and I would definitely take a taxi from the station. I walked from El Escorial station and it was a little tough going in the heat.
The town is a lovely place to walk around and plenty of places to eat and drink. Slightly touristy but in a very subdued way. It felt very safe.
The monastery was very good and I didn't spend enough time there. Some amazing art on display.
I arrived late in the day but I think one or two days would be more than enough.

Location fantastic and receptionists fantastic, however room was a let down, bed comfy but room very noisy and cramped, decor very tired. TV remote control was filthy caked with food residue. Breakfast service poor no cups for coffee, no glasses for fruit juice and no staff to assist. The price was not inexpensive but the service fell short of being value for money.

beautiful small town, 50 minutes from Madrid.
beautiful small town, 50 minutes from Madrid. We were there late April and the weather was GORGEOUS. The town is set on a hill, and the palce is a dominant feature of the town. Sweet cafes and restaurants, a relaxed feel, friendly locals, a place to sit and watch the world go by.

The monastery was amazing outside but the inside was stupendous. Make time for the tour. You will not regret it.
For me one day and night was enough. We ate at Bar los Mariscos and the food was amazing. They also had an English menu which was a great help to two people with zero Spanish.🙃When we tried to order 5 tapas dishes the waiter told us that would be way too much and advised us to start wit 3. He was totally right. Not a luxurious place but filled with Spanish people eating ( (always a good sign)

Wow! What a wonderful place!
Wow! What a wonderful place! Fernando is so amazing with all the minor details. I was so impressed with all the details he thought of. As we arrived there was a fruit basket, a bottle of cava, plenty of coffee pods, water bottles in the refrigerator, etc.
The place is cozy and warm with stunning views of the mountains! I highly recommend a nice visit to the countryside at this loft!

Although a large hotel it had a "family atmosphere" and the welcome on the front desk was warm and welcoming. Everywhere was spotless , including the car park, and the food was very tasty and excellent value, we all said that we would stay here again.
Great location with tree lined road with cafes and side view of El Escorial across the road. Close to town centre. Helpful reception. New makeover of rooms is adding a modern feel (but has yet to reach all parts of the hotel).
Breath-taking view from our balcony. Lovely, spacious, bright room. Macarena on reception was so friendly and helpful. Overall, a fantastic hotel & highly recommended.
