Aix en Provence is the perfect place to stay if you want to experience this part of France. Aix itself is fascinating and the art galleries are superb. We saw a beautiful Pierre Bonnard exhibition at the Hotel du Caumont and make sure you visit the Musee Granet- such a wonderful surprise. Everything in the old town is within easy walking distance and the little streets and shops are absolutely charming. We found the Saturday flower market in one of the little squares and sat down to watch while we enjoyed a crepe and a glass of wine. There are wonderful cafes and restaurants everywhere you look- the service is great and the people are very friendly. Aix is also very handy for day trips to the Luberon villages, Arles, Marseilles and Avignon- these are really a must if you want to get a real feel for the region. A brilliant holiday!

Beautiful old town, very vibrant, friendly people.
Beautiful old town, very vibrant, friendly people. Great bus services to neighbouring villages at absurdly low fares. A lot of classical architecture to enjoy, museums and art galleries. Huge selection of places to eat and drink, but you need to be aware of the tourist traps, of which there are also many, Most interesting - and disturbing - site was the Camp Les Milles internment camp. Not to be missed for anyone interested in France's recent history,

It’s a bustling city that’s full of stylish shops, cafes & restaurants. There are beautiful buildings, art galleries and museums throughout the city. We did the Cezanne trail (using the brass plaques embedded in the pavements) & a free Guru walk which was excellent. We also took a short bus ride just outside of the city centre to see where Cézanne painted his famous views of the mountain. Well worth visiting.

Aix is tourist orientated based around shopping and eating / drinking, which tends to overshadow the history and beauty of the buildings and streets. Some very posh shops coincide with street markets and the more bohemian traders in small shops dotted around the town.
There is food everywhere, though I never understand the French fascination with Pizza when their own produce is so good. It can be expensive around the main streets especially if you want to be "seen".
With great connections to the surrounding area with a fab bus station and railway station and its own TGV station (via bus link) it is easy to explore the wider region. There seems to be a "dial a bus" service for those with mobility issues which uses small electric vehicles to move you around - not something I used, but worth looking into.
There is a fountain on (almost) every junction, beautiful buildings and a cleanliness about the place.
It can be noisy at night as the bars fill up, but don't complain, just join in.....

A lovely French city that's a little smaller than most, in a good way. There always seems to be a market on somewhere to discover and there's always a little cafe or bar within site.
The main strip is very nice to walk down and then the old quarter is exciting to investigate.

I really liked everything in this flat. The size, the decoration, the equipment, the location and the public parking options in the street of the flat. The decoration of the flat is cozy and we had all the equipment we needed. The handling with the keys were easy. Overall, the comunication with the owners was really good and fast! The flat is short walking distance to the centre (hotel de ville) of Aix. We enjoyed our stay a lot and would definitely chose this flat again when coming back to Aix.
Unexpected stopover as our flight from from Marseilles was cancelled. Hotel was very well positioned within easy walking distance from the train station, bus to the airport as well as the centre of Aix. A room upgrade on arrival was a very welcome surprise, thanks for that.
Very nice hotel and very friendly people. We enjoyed our stay and the location of the hotel is great for visiting aix en provance. We would certainly select it again.
