Was our second time in Colmar in a year's time.
Was our second time in Colmar in a year's time. Really beautiful and worth a few days to really look at the back streets in the historical center. Our first visit was in late Spring and the city was FULL of tourists. One can't expect anything different in such a charming place. But our latest visit in January was almost a shock at how few people were around. Seems many locals involved with tourism disappear for the winter after the New Year; many restaurants that cater to tourists were closed. Was nice to go through the streets without it being too hectic and lots of cheap offers for hotels and apartments in the off season.

Colmar is very charming town in Alsace.
Colmar is very charming town in Alsace.
I like the historical center including Petit Venice area.
The Wine / Chocolate museums near the cathedral are worth to visit.
Good restaurants for reasonable prices are also in the center (near Place de l'Ancienne Douane)
Around the town you can find beautiful villages with excellent wineries (Riquewihr, Kayserberg, Eguisheim etc.)

It's all as adorable as the pictures and reviews would suggest. Decent attractions, but some of the shops seemed a bit repetitive, with too much stuff not made in Alsace. Some really good traditional and modern restaurants, but watch out for tourist traps.
Colmar itself is worth maybe two days, and it's a good base camp to explore charming villages along the southern portion of the Alsatian Wine Road. We wish we'd spent another day doing that.
Big downer: we had a suitcase stolen after we boarded the train to Strasbourg, and it was not dealt with particularly well by SNCF or the Police - very hard to get help at the the Strasbourg station once we realized what happened. Watch your stuff!

The old city center is made-up primarily of medieval half-timbered buildings - some dating from the 1400s. Very picturesque. The pedestrian area, on which this apartment fronts, is quite extensive. Lots of shops (even without the Christmas market) and lots of restaurants.

Beautiful accommodations in one of the most beautiful cities in France - I can't say enough. There's plenty of room - there were four of us and we didn't even use the two single beds upstairs (my son slept on the couch). It's located in the heart of Little Venice - an easy walk to everything you want to see. The room was spotless and the washer/dryer was very handy to have. Tons of great restaurants and bars - I could spend the whole time just people-watching.
Friendly people at the reception. Breakfast was very good: a lot of choice and fresh. Also a decent coffee machine with different options.
The hotel is located close to the old centre and the other cultural stuff that you visit Colmar for.
By the way: a long side the same road the hotel is located there is a very good thai restaurant named 'Muang Thai' that is worth a visit.
The location, in the heart of Colmar, is perfect for exploring the area, with plenty of eating options on the doorstep. It is also only 15 minutes walk from the railway station and 5 minutes from the Tourist Information centre.
This was a return visit, having stayed in the same hotel (and room!) last year. We were pleased to be back.
Location with free parking and 15 min walk to the city centre was very comfortable for us. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was really good, with even some oat milk and soy milk available!
I highly recommend this hotel for a visit to Colmar.
