My wife and I had an excellent 2 night break here to visit Ely and Cambridge. The hotel had a suitably old world charm as would be expected of its age but with modern touches that kept it from being "twee". Lots of comfortable seating areas by roaring log fires. The bedroom was comfortable and spacious and the en-suite was huge (not the usual cupboard converted to a shower one often finds). No lack of heating in the room, you will not go cold!
The restaurant served good quality food (booking essential) and an excellent breakfast in the morning.
The highest praise goes to the staff who were amazing. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. None of the false smiles, people genuinely interested in the conversations they had with you. It truly is a friendly, family owned and run hotel. Thoroughly recommended.
Situated opposite Ely Cathedral, the Poets House boasts a destination restaurant and a bar, along with free Wi-Fi. This boutique hotel is located in the heart of the historic city of Ely.

The property was conveniently located. Nice area on the river, would be lovely in summer. Spacious modern room. Adequate parking. Staff helpful and friendly. Attached to a restaurant and bar that served very tasty home made food and lovely 2 for 1 cocktails at a reasonable price.

Ely is a lovely historic small town. The cathedral is astonishing - well worth spending hours there. Lots of nice coffee shops and eateries. My favourite walk is from the cathedral down the Gallery to see the Porta (medieval monastery gate), then through the park (where you get great views of the cathedral) and down to the river.

We booked an Octagon Tower Tour And thoroughly enjoyed the tour. It was worth the money paid. The guide was very good. The walk that we had around the Cathedral before and after the Tower tour was very good - such an amazing building.
Once again, well worth a visit.
There was so much more to see in Ely, so we will be back again.

Ely is a great placed , a juxtaposition of the modern and ancient. The cathedral with an Octagonal buttress looks out over the city with a city Centre core architecture that has been around since 1400 AD
Was very easy to get to and close to the high street with restaurants/shops.
The staff member who checked me in was helpful and kind, and the staff member who served me breakfast the next day was great too. The room had an extremely comfy bed and perfect shower. The hotel was very quiet and I was uninterrupted by any noise.
This hotel is in an excellent location for the city centre. The room was fabulous with a very comfy bed and fantastic bathroom. The breakfast menu had plenty to choose from and it was absolutely delicious. The staff were all lovely and friendly and we were especially impressed with Alex and his evening meal wine list.
Nice quiet and clean quirky little hotel, clean room well presented, breakfast order was taken and delivered in a friendly and warm manner, definitely going to be staying again,
If you are looking for a hotel with character and charm, try this place. Good value for money.
