Glasgow is not like Edinburgh, it is much more rough and ready . The city centre is a mix of wealth and poverty side by side. There are beautiful buildings dropping apart next to rather faceless new ones , some streets and areas have had investment but look down the back alleys and you can see rubbish and neglected areas. The centre is over run with traffic everywhere, and many of the streets and roads need renewing. There are so many homeless people. It seems appropriate that it often stands in for New York as it seems to be reaching US levels of homelessness. It is all a bit shabby and chaotic but there is loads to see and do.

Enough to do/see over couple of days.
Enough to do/see over couple of days. A car, whilst VERY useful, is an expensive thing to park there. Not an easy "walk" town as pretty spread out... but perhaps using the underground system may help?
Highlight of the stay, The Burrell Museum. An absolute must to see for art/sculpture/glass/china/armaments etc. Superbly set out in a glorious new building, excellent media assistance....and a great cafe!

They say people is what makes Glasgow.
They say people is what makes Glasgow. The city is lovely and the people of Glasgow are really kind, interresting and curious. They have a lot of different type of restaurants, and all very tasty indeed. There are a few bars that specialize in Wiskey and very knowledgeable people that can help you choose and develop your palate. They call the underground clock work orange, as it is tiny and runs like clock work. The Indian food is divine, a big shout to Mother India and Chackoo, and if you like fish KELP is a real gem!

I had no idea Glasgow was so beautiful.
I had no idea Glasgow was so beautiful. It is more affordable than Edinburgh and it is so easy to just hop on a train and go anywhere you want in Scotland. The bus from the airport to city center was easy and affordable. I will definitely stay in Glasgow the next time I come to Scotland. It is a great starting and ending point for travels to the islands or the highlands. I traveled alone and felt 100% safe in Glasgow. Love this city!
