Allepey became more beautiful for the people I met there. So welcoming and so helpful.
Each and every restaurant I ate in for getting the authentic taste were amazing.
My all time favourite BORMA cafe- mouth smacking breakfast and dessert
Try meals at local restaurants for the amazing Kerala food.
The thing that I couldn’t try is chati choru.
The scooty rentals are really near by, if you don’t get a scooty then that’s ok, can rent an auto.
The shikhara ride was also very nice, went to see the sunset.
Early morning Kayaking for watching the sunrise was worth it.

I liked Allepey and local people there.
I liked Allepey and local people there. They were not "attacking tourists" like in Fort Kochi or Egypt. Sales people and tuk tuk drivers in Fort Kochi were so annoying and keep calling to their shops or offering taxi services, which made walking outside stressful. Tourism industry people (sales people, taxi drivers, cafe owners) in Alleppey were opposite. Nobody was offering anything. I enjoyed stress free vacation.

Alleppey feels more of a jumping off point for back-water...
Alleppey feels more of a jumping off point for back-water tours, rather than anything of note in and of itself. The main beach is only really good for going for a stroll to watch the (always cloudy) sunset - it's not setup for daytime relaxation. Stepping into the town, there are very few good places to eat, and as a Westerner the lack of being able to sit somewhere with an alcoholic drink was rather strange (there are liquor stores you can buy drink from for consumption in private). We stayed as a base for five nights - two, or maximum three would have sufficed.

The beach was nice, Boathouse that we took was that good, we took the day trip boat food was not within the expectation was very disappointed as the cook was from norther instead of local cook. Therefore we had only 2 kerala dishes vegetable and friend wish other menu was Dhal, rice , chapati and raita, mix veg. The starting point of boathouse was very disappointing where we saw kids diapers , and other plastic garbage floating around. Hope they can maintain the clearness and also ensure local food is serve on the boathouse. Otherwise the journey was beautiful we took a smaller boat to visit the local houses more closer.
