We booked a room with terrace which was really nice. You could sit in the sunshine all day. Unfortunately we had a neighbour who thought it was a shared terrace so we had to ask him to leave. Beautiful old Monastery, beautiful furniture and decorations. Nice pool although it was not heated. Breakfast is amazing. Free parking on the street.

Lecce dazzles every visitor offering one of Italy’s best preserved walled historic centres. Its wonders include tasteful traditional cuisine, rich wines, and charming shops. Located near the crystalline waters of both the Adriatic and Ionian beaches, it is a perfect base to explore the Salentine Peninsula.
Its origins are unclear, but it is believed that dates back to the 12th or 11th century BC, when Italic tribes founded a settlement nearby, which Romans later occupied and relocated to its current position. The pages of its history are filled by Byzantine rulers, several invasions, a Norman rebirth, and an annexation to the Kingdom of Sicily.
Its distinctive Baroque style is combined with well-preserved Roman remnants. Don’t miss the historic centre during sunset, when the light creates a perfect contrast between the blue sky and the mild-yellow colour of the limestone buildings. St Oronzo Square houses the Roman Amphitheatre, while the outstanding Holy Cross Basilica is a must. Don’t miss the magic of staying in a hotel or B&B in Lecce’s Old Town.
The city is serviced by the local railway station, while Brindisi Airport is 45 km away. Whether you’re searching for rural accommodation in the surroundings of Lecce, a resort on the nearby beaches, or a cosy guest house in the centre, check out the deals available on Booking.com.

The old city of Lecce was very beautiful, extensive, and there is plenty to see even in the off-season. Was surprised that the basilicas are not free to enter. You need to buy a tourist ticket, which is not expensive, and allows you to go into all the locations. While we were there in November 2024, the Roman amphitheater was under reconstruction--you can look in but not sit inside. There are very limited places to eat dinner before 7:30 but after that time there are many excellent restaurants for different budgets. One full day was enough to enjoy the old city. Lecce is very centrally located in Puglia and can be used as a base to visit other cities nearby.

We stayed in Lecce for the month of October.
We stayed in Lecce for the month of October. The weather was ideal. But most impressive, the people of Lecce are super. I can't count the number of times that locals stopped to chat, ask questions about the US and answer questions about themselves and the community. We always enjoy our visits to Italy and Lecce is the place we have enjoyed the most. Shop owners took the time to answer questions about their crafts and to coach us on how to do them ourselves. Paper mâché and limestone carving are both prevalent in Lecce and the products are quite incredible. We took classes in cooking Italian dishes and baking pastries of the region, and a class in paper mâché and they were all a lot of fun.

Breathtakingly beautiful city with dozens of churches and amazing alleys. Barocco at its best. Beautifully kept and very clean. Plethora of bars and restaurants, all of good quality and reasonable prices. Not to be missed: the Piazza Duomo and Chiesa Santa Croce. We did a 2-hour guided tour from the Duomo Square (only in Italian unfortunately) and it was really good. Visit in shoulder seasons to avoid the heat and the crowds!

Lecce is a very interesting city and we thoroughly enjoyed walking through the old town, visiting the historical sites and eating in local restaurants. We traveled to lovely beaches less than an hour away and loved the coastal towns of Otranto and Gallipoli.

Very compact and walkable old centre with pedestrianised streets and plenty of cafes and restaurants . A few historic buildings impressively lit at night but the roman amphitheatre and roman theatre were being restored so disappointing . Probably not as impressive as I thought it would be so a day is enough .

Excellent location and an easy walk into centro storico Lecce but there are also good bars, restaurants and shops near by. The terrace is huge and lovely for having coffee, meals or just lounging. Arturo is an excellent host and provided coffee pods, olive oil and condiments plus a bottle of wine! The apartment is very well laid out and the kitchen is compact but we prepared several meals during our stay. There is even a toaster which is unusual for Italy and it was very quiet.
One of the best places we stayed in traveling in southern Italy. The appartment was super clean, modern and well designed, well equipped. Air conditioner in the room. The accommodation was located in a great residential spot-near the super market and laundry service, 3min walk to the Old Town and 5min walk to the train station. We felt like locals living in Lecce. We met the staff in person-lovely girls and very welcoming. I would recommend the place in Lecce.
We really enjoyed our stay. Check in was easy and the room was spacious and airy. The design of the hotel is a really good mix between the old exterior and the modern interior. The breakfast was buffet-style and plentiful with super friendly staff on hand to help. A very short walk from the old town, there is plenty of free street parking around, making it an ideal base to explore not only Lecce but the rest of the peninsula as well.
This is a quality, luxurious, boutique hotel of just 9 rooms. The rooms are large, ours had a wonderful outdoor patio. Giuseppe and Raphaela were staffing the front desk and they were helpful, knowledgeable about Lecce , courteous and friendly. Our personal favorite was our breakfast chef Piera who is a cake, pie and tort master baker. Just a great experience at a wonderful hotel.
