The restaurants are uniquely special albeit somewhat pricy. But it's worth it. The room is cosy and classic, with a nice bathroom in a more traditional style.

This hotel has few rooms and therefore the care and attention to each guest is excellent. The food is
traditional delicious and stunningly presented in a lovely room with windows on two sides looking out to a view and trees. The bedroom was a generous size with very comfortable beds. Great to have jug and fridge.
The onsen is small but again looking out onto trees.
The hotel is very close to Sounzan cable car station. However the staff will pick you up from Gora station as it is a steep uphill 25 minute walk.

The room was very cozy and cute. There are pajamas, slippers, and bathroom products available for use. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We booked breakfast in advance but in the end had to leave very early in the morning, and they compensated us with sake the night earlier. The fireplace at the hall is a nice and cozy spot for winding down in the evening with a fantastic view over the lake.

What more can I say about my stay. It was enjoyable from start to finish. The location is perfect for a retreat within the regional areas of Japan. We were welcomed in like it's a holiday home, with its hallway into our accommodation as a starter really set the tone as a spacious room to enjoy our stay. The living room, bedroom and bathroom offered plenty which really showcased the attention to detail. Again, I truly recommend this place for a peaceful retreat and it's brilliant during the winter season.

Limited views of Mount Fuji and no real center so restaurants etc are all spread across the area. We went in winter so tourist attractions were closed so traffic could be busy at different times of the year. Driving to the other lakes could take a long time at busy periods so Hakone is a good option.
Close to Odaware for train / car hire and Gatemba Mall ( exceptional views of Mount Fuji !)

Mt Fuji is not as visible as other towns in the area.
Mt Fuji is not as visible as other towns in the area. Not really that much to do in the town besides the open air museum, ropeway and a couple other things. The ropeway was also disappointing because they had most of it closed down and so we think we paid full price for it but only really got like 5 minutes on the ropeway, and then we had to take a bus to the lake and by that time there was no time for the boat ride and we ended up barely seeing any of the sights we wanted to. The ropeway system closes early, I think 4:45pm and the boat tour stops doing round trips around that time too so we didn't have much options.

Hakone is a wonderful vacation spot with serene natural environment for anyone who want a break from city life. There are many outstanding accommodations around the area and if weather permits, you could have a glimpse of the beautiful Mt. Fuji. There are also many art museums where we didn’t have time to visit this time. If you are a runner, the legendary Hakone Ekiden would definitely on your watching list!

I am sure that it is even more beautiful in the spring... but in winter you benefit from few tourists and great walking weather... the chill making the hot onsens/thermal baths particularly attractive (especially if they are outdoors). A beautiful region.

It was a lovely area to walk around and explore. We wish we had more time. We arrived by train with our suitcases and then travelled by bus to our accommodation. In hindsight we should have just caught a taxi from the train station.

We stayed after a hectic few days in Tokyo and loved the peace and calm of Hakone Suimeisou. Our stay was an opportunity to experience a traditional ryokan and traditional Japanese cuisine. We loved everything about our stay from the private onsen and kimonos to sleeping on futons and the tatami flooring. The hotel is right on the river, and literally across the road from the station - the rooms are spacious and the staff were lovely.
Amazing experience at a traditional Japanese hotel. The Onsen were super relaxing and the view was exceptional. The room view was amazing and the beds were super comfortable. It's close to the bus stop so it's easy to visit the main attractions in Hakone and come back. A bunch of restaurants nearby! The breakfast was super delicious and very traditional. The staff is super friendly and helpful.
It was extremely relaxing. Staff were very helpful and food was great. We are vegetarian and the restaurant manager ensured we understood what was available and made us a platter on the second night. Onsen was very peaceful. The hotel overlooks the lake and is very near the Hakone Ropeway, so it's a fun day on that and at the geology museum etc.
It’s a very big Onsen hotel next to the river, which flows through Hakone Yumoto.
The hotel is not the newest anymore, but well kept. My room was very spacious and comfortable.
The Onsen was also quite big and had several outdoor basins.
The staff, the food and the onsen. Hotel is not far from Hakone Yumoto Station and transport is available during check in and check out. There is also a bus stop a few minutes away.
