We had a good time at the Ski Resort and the Shopping Outlets and plenty of Food Choices. We were able to hike going to Hoshino Olsen and also had a wonderful breakfast in the area. The outdoor ice skating area was also great. Bus schedules are far in between but you can opt to take taxi although more expensive

We spent a couple of nights here so my kids can do a ski lesson on one of the days. One could certainly choose to take a day trip from Tokyo for such an activity. However, we wanted to get away from the big city that is Tokyo and it was such a lovely experience. By some stroke of luck, it started snowing as well so that's a bonus for my kids. Around the train station and at the Prince hotel 'mall' there is a 7-11 and a number of restaurants that are pretty good. We did not manage to visit the falls unfortunately. All in all, the quiet serene character of Karuizawa was very much appreciated.DonusSingapore - Scored 1010

Beautiful area with an Alpine feel. Plenty of great restaurants. Lots of beautiful nature and hiking. Definitely take the bus up to Shiraito Falls, a unique waterfall like nothing you’ve ever seen.

Karuizawa offers an amazing small town charm with excellent food, friendly people, and accessible nature. Definitely check out the Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel tour to view Musasabi! The only downside to this beautiful town is that it's a bit more pricey than the rest of Japan.

We would definitely go back. Just around an hour by Shinkansen from Tokyo, Karuizawa is the perfect place if you want the laid-back, nature-embraced, old-town feel. Just strolling around town is cool enough but they have a lot of museums and galleries too, that the whole family enjoyed! Also got to try skiing for the first time. Overall, this is one place that we will always be included if we go in the Tokyo area again in the future.

Our Moms enjoyed very much for Mothers day. Reception is really helpful, he help reserve table for restaurant, and explained Onsen in detail. It is friendly for elders to use hot spring. Lobby is mordern, with exquisite view. Villa with sloping roof feel ourselves in a forest gallery. We loved and definitely will stay here again.

Despite being an upmarket hotel, they were still very accommodating and welcoming of our toddler and there were extra amenities for her which were appreciated. The hotel is situated in the older part of Karuizawa and is within walking distance of many beautiful attractions and restaurants/cafes. The breakfast is also excellent.
