FAQs about hotels in Osaka

A Stronghold of Japanese Culture

At the meeting point of river and sea, huge Osaka combines forward-thinking development and sure-footed tradition. This is symbolised in its temple-like, 16th century castle, guarded by ramparts and enlivened by vibrant spring cherry blossom. Dominating the surrounding skyline is Osaka Business Park, a reminder of the city’s strong role in the Japanese economy.

However, the most striking skyscraper is the Umeda Sky Building - 2 towers connected by a rooftop terrace offering far-reaching views. The nearby Osaka and Umeda train stations are linked by underground shopping centres, while the shops of Shinsaibashi’s America Village appeal to a younger crowd. Dōtonbori’s neon lights promote more shops, as well as restaurants considered the best in Osaka. In a city touted as Japan’s culinary capital, that’s quite an accolade.

The Tsūtenkaku tower overlooks Tennōji Park, home of the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art. Another nearby park houses Shitennō-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.

The Kyocera Dome Osaka is a shrine of baseball, and more thrills are at waterfront Universal Studios Japan, the country’s 2nd largest theme park. Also by the sea is Kansai International Airport, on its own artificial island.

The capsule hotel was invented in Osaka, and alongside this type of accommodation, Booking.com also offers luxury hotels with pools, cheap hostels and traditional ryokans.

Osaka is a bustling city with a great food scene. So many places to visit and the food is fantastic. Transport was so easy since Osaka station (Umeda) was central to almost all areas of the city. The izakaya options are endless and you can't go wrong with any one of them

What I liked is the craziness and the vibe of Dotonbori at night; the classy Kitahama with some beautiful old buildings like the City Hall and the Library; the historic vibe of Shinsekai. Umeda Sky Building and the views from there were amazing. It's a big city so if you already live in a big city, then it's not going to feel very peaceful and relaxing other than in some gardens.

Osaka has lots to see and do all on its own and is very close to Kyoto Nara and Hemenji Castle as well. The Aquarium is na standout as is the Harukus 300 building and observation deck. Dottonbori is just great of a night.

Most people we asked for directions are very helpful. Dotonburi is vibrant both day and night. The River Cruise is very enjoyable but be prepared dressed warm in cold weather as it is open air (boat is topless) which offers great views on both sides of the river. Insufficient direction maps in subway station. But on the whole, Osaka is a great city to visit.

Some touristy things to do, such as visiting temples and Osaka Castle. Big shopping area around Shinsaibashisuji but too crowded most of the time. Food was alright. 1 day should do, but 2-3 days wouldn't hurt.

Very nice staff. Super helpful! Location is great if you want to go shopping/eating. On foot it takes you about 10 minutes from Namba and you are right in Denden, close to Nipponbashi, Shinsekai and Dotonbori. Size of the room was on par with what I am used with regular Hotels in Japan. It and the bathroom is small. If you are traveling with a partner - your lugage will probably fill the entire room. But this is pretty normal for Japan. No negative, just wanted to let you know and be prepared.

I didn't have breakfast much as I was up and about earlier than 6:30 for most of the days there. However, the location was great - easy access to Shin-Osaka train station in a 5 minute walk on the Midosuji Subway line, which lets you get to key train stations like Namba and Umeda within the city centre for attractions like Dotonbori and the Umeda Sky Building. Shin-Osaka train station is also well-positioned for the JR lines across Japan, allowing for day trips to places like Kyoto and Hiroshima.

Excellent location! The hotel is very close to Kuromon Market and Dōtonbori. For travelers taking the Nankai Limited Express from KIX Airport to downtown Osaka, it’s just a 15-minute walk from Namba Station. The highlight of the hotel is the bathroom—it’s surprisingly spacious compared to the relatively small room. The wet and dry areas are separated, and it features two taps: one for the shower and another for filling up the bathtub.

Cross Hotel is in the heart of Osaka, very close to the Dotonbori strip. The rooms are comfortable, but on the smaller side of all the hotels we had on our roundtrip in Japan. I believe the hotel is a bit too expensive for the value it provides. Overal, it is a good hotel with a decent breakfast buffet and can be recommended for a trip to Osaka due to its location.

De hotel was a lovely introduction to Japan with it's traditional look and rooms. The onsen was also very comfortable and a great way to relax after a day of visiting Osaka. We used the hotel service to forward one of our luggage what made traveling to Hiroshima much easier. This is a great service that hotels provide.
