I liked the eclectic choice of pictures and ornaments, it takes real skill to bring a mix like this together and the decor was really good. The beds were very comfortable and I liked the guest lounge as it was a great place to read, when I woke up early.

New Plymouth has a lot of features to attract tourists. This high quality Devon hotel is a wonderful operating base for travellers. This was a short stay having visited family in Lower Hutt, but we previously visited during the gardens Festival. We will be back again.

If I had known about the Coastal Walkway beforehand, I would have stayed longer just to have a long distance training along it. We stayed overnight to rest for a long drive back home; didn't explore enough but brief impression about the city is good; particularly liked the well-preserved old buildings.

I purposely wanted to see gardens and Mt Taranaki which I did. The gardens were spectacular! The weather was a bit average and my co-traveller was unwell so we were a bit limited as to where we could go. Tapure was gorgeous and the gardens in town spectacular. Just missed out on the scheduled night light show but great all the same. The Len/Lye centre outside was fascinating!
Too many road works coming and going which was a pain but they must nearly be done now.

What I like about New Plymouth is the numerous cafes, bars and restaurants. There is the museum and art gallery's. You have the sea on one side and the mountain on the other so depending on weather you need to pack for anything. There is the Park where you can wander around or sometimes there are row boats to hire for a short time on the small lake. Walk along from the port to Bell Block. New Zealands very first wind wand is in New Plymouth. There's also a hidden antique shop. My favourite restaurant is the Hi Fri definitely worth it.

This is our third visit to the garden festival.
This is our third visit to the garden festival. New Plymouth is a “destination city” it has a good vibe, nice restaurants, parks and gardens, beaches etc. the festival itself is large and well executed. If you’re in to gardens, you can’t go wrong.

The accommodation was great and the thought of being able to bike was also a draw card, however the bikes seemed to be in a neglected state. We would have explored much more and got to see more of New Plymouth if they were really up to a good riding standard.

I really liked that our room was bright and clean, with modern blinds and temperature controlled heating. The carpet was comfy underfoot, the bed and pillows were excellent, the mini fridge was larger than most hotels, and dressing gowns were provided. They provided an option for recycling in the room. Also the spa bath was strong and enjoyable, and I like the deep drawer in the bathroom vanity, which kept our toiletries accessible, without cluttering up the vanity.
We can highly recommend this hotel, the comfort, luxury and beauty of the decor all makes for a fantastic experience. We really enjoyed the court yard eating establishments connected to the hotel and the close proximity to the beach walkway and other attractions.
Easy access, great undercover parking available. Hotel staff are fantastic! Friendly and very knowledgeable about things to do around New Plymouth. Breakfasts are really good. The hotel is clean, modern and fabulous! Always enjoy staying at Novatel hotels.
Loved the funky decor, artwork and elegant guest lounge. Great location as the hotel was in the heart of New Plymouth with restaurants in walking distance and near to the Coastal Walkway. Luke was extra friendly and helpful.
