A bit disappointed with the poor choice of fruit. There should have been more to choose from

Wonderful Botaniic Gardens by the river.
Wonderful Botaniic Gardens by the river. Beautifully restored 1920s grand theatre : Regent on Broadway. with a busy, varied programme. Good fashion shops. Good range restaurants - Italian, Indian, Middle Eastern etc.

The bush and gardens next to the Manawatu River: with mature Tawa, Titoki, Kawakawa and even a small stand of Kauri, huge old Ginko trees outside the cafe.
Wide flat streets for cycling.
Greenhaugh Gardens ($10 entry) a short drive away are worth a visit.
City is hardly any different to other towns, shops and restaurants value for money.

Beautiful gardens and parks.
Beautiful gardens and parks. Not a lot of shops but that would depend on age group. Several lovely coffee shops. Easy to get around if you have a car, with beautiful countryside and small towns close by to explore.
Palmerston North is very flat and easy to navigate.

As we were there to watch a National Hockey tournament there was very little time to explore the attractions and unfortunately, the weather was not the best during the stay which undoubtedly hindered activities other than the Hockey

The Matariki event was a disappointment.
The Matariki event was a disappointment. Great shopping, including plenty of shops not in Wellington. The Neighbourhood is a great place to eat, $15 specials, such great value and super tasty. Very flat and walkable. Not sure about the bus service we drove everywhere. Loads of supermarkets.

Palmy is a great place open wide spaces to hang out in - The Esplanade is good for a walk and the shopping complex is good. We visited the Elm cafe in Fitzherbert Ave for lunch and the Amayjen restaurant in Victoria Street for dinner. Both had efficient pleasant service and the food was very good. Traffic congestion minimal. A wander around Massey University is also worth the time.

Lovely accommodation, best of the three we stayed in while in Palmerston North and would highly recommend! Very clean and spacious, friendly staff who let us check in early after a long journey and a washing machine and dryer along with a spa in our 3 bedroom family suite we’re definitely the icing on the cake for a comfortable stay
The place was fine but the confusion was that I thought I was staying at the Distinction Hotel not the Coachman Motel. Having two places in the same town with the same name is confusing and after a long drive it was frustrating to find that I still had further to go.
Harringtons is a little further out of the main city centre than the other motels along Fitzherbert Avenue. A quick trip in a car isn't a problem though.
