Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Big room with very comfortable bed, and crisp clean linens. Newly renovated bathroom with walk in shower. Breakfast was more than adequate. Only cold cuts, cheese , cereal, bread , no hot stuff, sausage, egg etc. But lots of it and fresh. Great coffee.
Parking was just a shortvwalk and hotel provided us with parking voucher for 10 euro with in/ out privileges a 5 min walk from hotel.
Recommend with confidence.

Portugal’s medieval capital, and a pioneer of fado music alongside its modern counterpart Lisbon, Coimbra is a vibrant university city with a good helping of historic sights.
The university is the country’s oldest and its attractive buildings cover a small hill overlooking the Mondego River. The institution has an excellent science museum, the ornate Joanina Library, and one of the world’s oldest botanical gardens which contributes to the lush landscape.
The midweek nightlife in the city’s bars and restaurants is popular with students, while shopping options range from the stores of the CoimbraShopping complex to smaller boutiques on cobbled streets in the historic Baixa district.
The medieval centre houses the museum of Coimbran sculptor Machado de Castro and the Old Cathedral, begun under the reign of the first Portuguese King, Afonso Henriques. He is buried in Santa Cruz Monastery, while the tomb of a later queen – Elizabeth of Aragon – is in the Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Nova. She founded this hilltop convent to replace flood-prone Santa Clara-a-Velha below. Between them is Portugal dos Pequenitos where Portugal’s main monuments are reproduced in miniature.
Nearby is Quinta das Lágrimas, a 19th-century mansion that is now a luxury hotel on Booking.com. Also available are cheap hostels and guest houses near the 2 main train stations.

The university are is historic and filled with interesting sites. Definitely arrange for a guided tour of the university. We used one of the free tour guides, but opted to ask for a customized university-only tour. We spent over an hour and the campus tour could have gone longer. It is definitely worth buying the 3-fold ticket to access the palace, the chapel and the library. DON’T MISS THE LIBRARY! You need a timed-entry ticket for the library, so buy on line early in the day — or the day before. If you are interested in Jewish history, there is a relatively new Jewish Museum (opens at 1:00pm) and also a mikvah (not yet open to the public)

Such a pretty city with all that you could want.
Such a pretty city with all that you could want. Parks with lovely walking, including the botanic garden. Shopping if that is what you are into, or just walking down the pretty streets and viewing the lovely boutiques. Loads of restaurants and cafes. We even found some vegetarian and vegan options for eating. Strolling along the river is also very pleasurable. Must see university campus. And if you are there during December, the Christmas market is fantastic!

I was on a business-related trip, so sadly had no opportunity to be a sightseer. I visited in early November, when max daytime temps were 22-24 deg-C (72-75 degrees in Freedom Units). The cost of food and drinks was a fraction of elsewhere in Europe/UK, and my experience was the staff at restaurants were helpful and very friendly, and the food of excellent quality. I wish I could have stayed longer and "gotten lost" here.

We had no knowledge of Coimbra before going there - it was just a convenient half way point between Lisbon & Porto. But it is definitely our favourite town that we visited in Portugal. We stayed at the edge of the old town & had access to many restaurants & bars. We loved walking along cobbled streets through the medieval town & up to the university, which is a highlight of Coimbra. A charming town with the right balance of ancient & modern

wanted to visit the university library but were unable to do so as tickets were sold out. we were leaving the following day so we left without seeing one of the most important attractions. Make sure book tickets in advance.
Also you don't need to buy tickets to see a fado show. We saw an excellent one for free in a cafe that was once part of a church. Just bought drinks

- Good hotel with kids as it had a mini park in the swimming pool area. So close for parents to keep an eye on them. There was also an other activities room for kids.
- The Breakfast was great and had a large variety of both savoury and sweet.
- Can walk on river front from hotel to city centre
- Had some discounts for sightseeing like "Portugal dos Pequenitos"
We loved everything! Paula is such a kind and welcoming person who was attentive to our every need! We loved having her tell us about the history of Portugal, of Coimbra and also how she took a dilapidated, abandoned house and turned it into a gorgeous guest home with state-of-the-art fixtures and the most incredible breakfast!
Perfect location, cute decor and well stocked with the kitchenette and good air con. Great housekeeping that as a nice surprise washed our dishes. Nice to have access to the Hotel Oslo rooftop bar - beautiful view of Coimbra at sunset.
The property is situated just across the bridge from Coimbra, boasting a wonderful view of the city. It's a mere 3-minute walk from Portugal dos Pequenitos and conveniently located next to a large car parking area
Friendly staff. Provided a free room upgrade.
Stored luggage when we arrived early and room not ready.
Provided free pastel de nata on arrival.
Dinner at hotel restaurant was best meal we ate in Portugal.
