Took my husband for a birthday surprise and he loved it! Really interesting building, great central location. Really comfy beds, great breakfast, helpful staff, lovely lounge area. Doesn't have modern bathrooms but you wouldn't expect that in an old building.

Portugal’s medieval capital, and a pioneer of fado music alongside its modern counterpart Lisbon, Coimbra is a vibrant university city with a good helping of historic sights.
The university is the country’s oldest and its attractive buildings cover a small hill overlooking the Mondego River. The institution has an excellent science museum, the ornate Joanina Library, and one of the world’s oldest botanical gardens which contributes to the lush landscape.
The midweek nightlife in the city’s bars and restaurants is popular with students, while shopping options range from the stores of the CoimbraShopping complex to smaller boutiques on cobbled streets in the historic Baixa district.
The medieval centre houses the museum of Coimbran sculptor Machado de Castro and the Old Cathedral, begun under the reign of the first Portuguese King, Afonso Henriques. He is buried in Santa Cruz Monastery, while the tomb of a later queen – Elizabeth of Aragon – is in the Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Nova. She founded this hilltop convent to replace flood-prone Santa Clara-a-Velha below. Between them is Portugal dos Pequenitos where Portugal’s main monuments are reproduced in miniature.
Nearby is Quinta das Lágrimas, a 19th-century mansion that is now a luxury hotel on Booking.com. Also available are cheap hostels and guest houses near the 2 main train stations.
Vastly different from the more touristy areas of Portugal.
Vastly different from the more touristy areas of Portugal. Coimbra has a unique laid-back charm that draws you in. Even though most of the attractions can be seen and completed in a day, a day or a couple more would be ideal even if just to sit and soak in the atmosphere. Coimbra is very hilly just like most of Portugal, good shoes are recommended!

The University grounds and Botanical gardens are steeped in history and beautiful architecture, We found a lovely cafe with awesome lattes and very friendly employees - Nau Coffee.
Our only disappointment was seeing a lot of broken beer bottles, garbage and graffiti beyond the University grounds

It is very nice to stroll through downtown Coimbra at a night, any day of the week. Next time I will make sure to see more of the different Fado events that usually kick off at around 18h00. In the day, you have a variety of museums and shops to see, as well as traditional restaurants and cafés.

The university and old churches are exceptional. Be prepared to walk a lot of hills accompanied by many steps. There is no need to book a tour to do anything in this lovely town. A little reading ahead of time and you will be all set.

Great little town with lots of history and not yet packed with tourists. Lots to see, great little restaurants and beer houses. A fun shopping area to explore. I recommend staying 2 to 3 nights to enjoy walking around town, visiting university area and the different churches. Lots of photo opps. Visit Zaza's restaurant and bar (very near Solar Antiguo) for good food, music and great conversation. Lots of fun walking and Ubers are readily available.

We loved the University and seeing the students walk around in their capes. The library is a high point, and be sure to look for the bats' entry points outside it. The restaurant, Dux Taberna Urbana has great food- try the tuna tataki and if you're really adventurous, the octopus- and a wonderful ambiance. Also, while probably not on everyone's "to do" list, stop at the Palácio da Justiça (Palace of Justice) to see the magnificent tiles.

We have stayed at this hotel only for one night as we were travelling by car across Portugal. The hotel was on our way to Portu and had a free parking, which was great. We liked it a lot there, the room was spacious, with a balcony, the view was nice. The staff were very welcome and helpful. We highly recommend to have a dinner in their restaurant, we loved it, they had a nice selection of wines and the food was delicious, beautifully served and cooked with love. They told us they use veggies from their own farm, which I find really cool.
The accomodatin is very comfortable. Apartment was nice and good equipped. Shared kitchen is clean also. There is enough space in fridges and in cases.
Service is very good. The personnel helped us when we had a problems during the travel accros the Portugal. They were very cooperative.
We spent our holiday in Portugal in four places. The price and level of service were the best here. Thank you very much, we wish you many disciplined guests
The best place in Coimbra and of course in Portugal also. Really great location, good breakfast, and beautiful view on the city. The room was excellent with the jakuzzi, in the room you feel like a queen. Really recommend this place, beautiful. I traveling a lot, but I never see similar place like that before. Wonderful, just amazing.
We were pleasantly surprised by the apartment. Perfectly clean, well furnished, great location. We loved it. Great value for money. The staff from Hotel Oslo were very helpful and friendly, helping with our luggage up the stairs. Highly recommended.
Perfect location, cute decor and well stocked with the kitchenette and good air con. Great housekeeping that as a nice surprise washed our dishes. Nice to have access to the Hotel Oslo rooftop bar - beautiful view of Coimbra at sunset.
