The view. make sure you book a room on a top floor facing the harbour. The breakfast buffet was great. The room was warm, which is not common in winter in Algarve.

Location - close by the old town and the shopping, restaurant area/quirky/friendly staff/comfy bed. The ‘standard double’ room was a little more ‘snug’ than we’d anticipated but we managed. The bathroom was as expected but if you go to the loo in the night and switch the light on you’ll illuminate the whole room. Cute roof garden too. We chose to include breakfast. It’s simple fare but fresh & tasty. The breakfast area is quite small and you have to choose what time you’ll take breakfast (half hour slots). Not an issue for us for a short stay but may be for others. We both agreed we’d be happy to stay here should we visit Faro again.

Faro is the picturesque capital of the Algarve region, offering colourful streets and buildings, Moorish influence, and typical Portuguese charm. It is encompassed by the lagoon of Ria Formosa Natural Park, and offers wide beaches, a laid-back atmosphere, and a vibrant nightlife.
Occupied by Phoenicians and Carthaginians, and once an important Roman harbour and Moorish culture capital, it was almost flattened by the 1755 earthquake. Happily, the historic centre survived and is today one of best preserved in Algarve. Choosing a hotel in Faro’s Old Town will allow you to have a more authentic Portuguese experience.
The long, sandy beach of Praia de Faro is 7 km from the city, and the beach on Barreta Island –also known as Deserta - is probably the most tranquil in the region. Hotels near the beach in Faro and the surrounding towns of Olhão, Tavira, Quinta do Lago, Quarteira and Vilamoura, are all excellent ways to enjoy sunny Portugal.
Faro International Airport offers connections throughout Europe, and the city also offers ferry, railway, and bus links. Whether you need a beach resort or a hotel near Faro Airport, check out the wide offer available on Booking.com!
I went to Faro to visit my sister in hospital. Therefore there was little time for "touristy" activities. I visited twice a day with a break at lunchtime.
Because of the good weather (January!), I enjoyed a couple of hours, in between visits, at the marina taking in the sun.

I stayed in Faro Monday until Friday.
I liked how close things were, very walkable. I booked an afternoon boat tour of the Ria Formosa which was excellent and good value for money. Top tip: If you book an afternoon trip you'll get to see the sunset while sailing back. Every meal I ate in Faro was delicious...the hotel restaurant called Adao Poke Bowl and Steak house, and some places around the centre such as 8 Tapas, and also Restaurante Cidade Velha which is next to the Catedral, amd Cosina las Islas. Also try Casa da Ginjha for a typical Portuguese liquor.

I would consider Faro a quiet city to visit, easy to get around on foot. There are taxis available everywhere which are not that expensive either. Lots of places to eat too. Felt very safe at night walking around as there were lots of families out and about too. Its not a noisy touristy place to visit if you want a relatively quiet holiday.

I liked being in a high up bar above the town there.
I liked the boat trip very much and the ease of getting in and out by taxi from the airport was worth paying for.
A clear map of the town centre would have helped. My printout was full of tiny streets! ..hard to read.
I ate at the Hotel Eva. Good value meal .
The hotel Frangaria had a restaurant attached and I had a good meal there too.

Some lovely bars and restaurants, people friendly.
Some lovely bars and restaurants, people friendly. But as soon as you step one or 2 streets away, it is looking very run down with graffiti absolutely everywhere! Great municipal market, local food and drinks, an authentic experience.

Faro was our last stop on our trip through Portugal. We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The staff was friendly, had answers to all our questions, and were always available. The room was small and the bathroom was small, but the space was well used. The beds were comfortable, the cleanliness was top notch, the location was good, the shopping center was a 10-minute walk away, and the center was close by.
The hotel is near Faro International Airport, Uber from the hotel is less than 10 Euros. The bed is comfortable, we could hear some noise from next room , because someone was talking very loud, we reported this to the hotel staff via Booking.com link and the issue had been sorted in less than 30 minutes. There are facilities such as gym, tennis courts, basket ball and football There are 2 swimming pools.
airport hotels serve a function ,room size was good ,powerful shower, even had a swimming pool , best feature was location , hotel was a mere 2/3 minute safe walk to faro airport , if you have time its aonly a 30 minute walk through Rio Formosa national park to praia faro a very lovely beach worth the effort
For my first time in Portugal EVER, it was beautiful to find this little hostel nearby Faro airport
