This is a great hotel. Superior room had plenty of space and was really nice. Staff is attentive and helpful, shared areas are as cozy as it gets. Breakfast buffet is one of the best we've ever had.

Lili and Marco are great hosts, very friendly, responsive and they really care about you having a great time. The apartment was as described, very clean and had everything we needed. The quite large terrace was perfect to enjoy our breakfasts, coffees in the afternoon or dinner. The location is also great, very quiet area, we loved that you could hear the water running through the Levada during the day and night. Within 10min we could walk to the centre of Santana (up and down as typical on Madeira). The house is on the route to the Levada do Caldeirão Verde (<10min by car) and within 20min you reach the parking of Achada do Teixeira from where you can start a hike to Pico Ruivo.
We especially appreciated the evenings in Santana, when the day tourists left and the city became calmer. It gives you time to visit the traditional houses with almost no one else and enjoy restaurants/bars with few tourists and locals.
All in all we had a great stay here and can recommend it.

The studio is very clean, well equipped and just feels like home! You can tell Sandra and Olides put a lot of effort in it. It was one of the best places I’ve ever stayed at! The bed was so comfortable, the studio was cosy, the views are amazing. The host was very helpful and easy to contact. There were cookies, fruit and wine waiting for us when we arrived and they even brought over fresh traditional bread one day. The location is great for exploring that side of the island. There are some pretty viewpoints nearby, the beach is a couple of minutes by car and there is a big supermarket in the village. I could not recommend this more.

Very accommodating host, all the baby/toddler equipment we needed. Even bought a potty for our toddler when we asked if they had one.
Cute little town. The uniquely Madeiran thatched houses are worth a look. There is one nice gentleman who invites people to see inside a home that has been in his family for 100+ years. It's a small window into what life was like before all the tourism. Also, he's very kind and will offer you a coffee liqueur on arrival. A donation is generally appreciated at the end.
Most importantly, he has adorable cats that hang out at the house, and one of the cats literally guided me up the path to his house. :)

The hotel is very pleasant.
The hotel is very pleasant. It is good to be together with nature and with beautiful views over the sea and mountains. However, check-in took a long time, we waited 1 hour and a half for them to prepare the room, and when we got to the room, there were no pool towels, we had to ask at reception. Another situation that I didn't like was the booking of the wine tasting and visit to wine house. We were refused the wine tasting because we had already checked out at 12:00h. So we asked if we could do it before check out and they said yes, but we got there and nobody showed up.

Don't stay in Santana longer than 4 days and make sure you have a rental car to get to all the levadas easily. The restaurants/cafes in Santana are not that good/nice. The only tourist attraction in Santana are the famous Santana houses and the nearby hiking area Queimadas.

We made the mistake of not hiring a car before we got to the hotel. We figured we would see what Santana was like and then hire a car locally, this was a big mistake! Once we got to our hotel, it was clear that we would need a car to get around as nothing is close or easy to get to. We're super active people but local hikes are 30 mins just to get to. We were told it would be £630 to hire a car for 5 days. Our advice would be to hire a car ahead of your trip.
Santana is beautiful and has such a variety of things to do and see. Other advice would be to not judge a book by its cover when it comes to restaurants, we ate the best stake in a tiny little restaurant that looked pretty grim from outside.
You probably wont want to spend all your time in Santana but its a great base.

I wanted time to chill, and Santana did that.
Lovely scenery.

Don't bother with the tourists traditional houses, there are plenty of genuine ones in the town, some very rustic

Beautiful apartment in Santana. Excellent facilities, very comfortable bed, excellent shower and all spotlessly clean. Apartment is finished to a very high standard ensuring you have everything you need for a most comfortable stay. Manuel was so welcoming and friendly, communication was excellent prior to and during our stay. Wonderful 5 star experience.
Beautiful location with sea views and pleasant grounds. Buffet breakfast was extensive, mostly fresh and tasty. Staff were helpful and friendly. Loved the outdoor swimming pool (despite its narrowness) and having access to sauna.
Everything was perfect - no mold, everything you need to cook is there, clean, nice smelling apartment. Lili also gave some recommendations what to visit in Santana - so we were just happy with our stay
