Standing proud beside Lake Michigan, Chicago is down-to-earth, friendly, and abounding in culture. It has outdoor art by famous artists including Chagall and Picasso, and there are some fascinating architectural examples from the Art Institute of Chicago.
Home to blues and house music, Chicago has an eclectic music scene that reflects its spirit. The Windy City is also a pioneer in a variety of Americanized dishes from it's European immigrant roots like deep-dish pizza and the Chicago hot dog.
The world’s first skyscraper and Ferris wheel were erected in Chicago. The latter, on Navy Pier, is one of the Midwest’s most visited sights. Also famed is the ‘L’ transport system, whose raised trains circle The Loop, the main business district. Check out its skyline reflection in the shiny bean sculpture in huge Millennium Park.
Home of the Bulls and Bears, Chicago is a stronghold of sport and has teams playing baseball, basketball, American football and hockey, to name a few. If you get a chance, try to catch a game.
Chicago Midway and Chicago O’Hare Airport are both on the outskirts of this vast city, so make sure to leave enough time for travel from your Booking.com hotel, apartment or hostel. And all that jazz.
Our most recent trip to Chicago was strictly hockey related.
Our most recent trip to Chicago was strictly hockey related. Drove in for the game, stayed in the medical/university district. Within walking distance of a great hockey bar/restaurant (The Barn Hockey Bar) and United Center. We would definitely take this trip again!

There is lots to do in Chicago. Many museums.
There is lots to do in Chicago. Many museums. Especially good are the Aquarium, the Field Museum, the Art Institute, and the Museum of Contemporary Art. The Surgery Museum was good if you have an interest in that. The Museum of Science and Industry is outdated and ho-hum. The Sky Deck of the Willis Towers was good for the view but overly expensive and the immersive museum (on your way) contained little hard information. You could not go outdoors from the Sky Deck--only look through glass. We were there on a weekend--traffic was sparse but subway trains infrequent. Use SpotHero to find parking ramps with better rates (but we found it hard to use).

Chicago is a fast-paced multi-cultural city. It is easy to find things to do to keep yourself busy. The nights are exciting, and the events are breath taking. I could have easily stayed another week and had a wonderful time with a plethora of events to keep myself busy.

Chicago is a city that captivates at first sight!
Chicago is a city that captivates at first sight! The unique blend of modern architecture, rich history, and stunning natural beauty makes it one of the most fascinating cities I’ve ever visited.
The first thing that stands out is the magnificent skyline, where skyscrapers like the Willis Tower and the John Hancock Center create an unforgettable metropolitan vibe. A walk along the Chicago River or the famous Michigan Avenue leaves lasting impressions.
The city is full of cultural attractions: from the Art Institute of Chicago with its outstanding collection to the Field Museum of Natural History. Millennium Park and the iconic "Cloud Gate" (affectionately known as "The Bean") are perfect spots for a stroll and memorable photos.
The culinary scene in Chicago is another highlight. Deep-dish pizza is an absolute must-try, and the variety of restaurants can satisfy any taste.
Chicago also delights with its friendly atmosphere and vibrant city life. In the summer, there are festivals, and in the winter, ice skating rinks and cozy Christmas markets.
This city left a bright impression on me, and I will definitely return to enjoy its unique charm again!

Chicago is wonderful.
Chicago is wonderful. The Loop and Mile have so many great attractions, there's literally no way to see them all. The local specialty shops in the Loop are my family's favorites. The art institute is an all day affair (definitely ask how to get to the 3rd floor). Some time shopping in and around State Street with some time for The Bean and the park is a day well spent. Take your time on foot to see it all!

I did not expect an actually working fitness room, this was a very nice plus. Personnel super friendly and coffee in the room! This was certainly the best part. If the location suits you, it is ultimately a take.
Colleagues of mine in the same trip choose to stay in hotels downtown Chicago, and for a similar budget, they got horrible rooms. I purchased a Ventra card and commuted with the Orange line to the city center, saved money and got a better deal.
Thank you to all the staff at the Royal Sonesta Chicago Downtown for making our stay a special one. We were in Chicago on a family trip and the hotel was perfect. The view was beautiful. The cleanliness throughout the entire property was amazing, but everyday the housekeeping team presented our room beautifully. The location was great with really accessible transport links. Couldn't recommend more.
Great location, downtown and near metra station: You can walk to a number of attractions and get to many others with public transportation or a cheap uber ride. The room is extremely spacious and with a great lake view. It is one of the few historical buildings (with a soul!) downtown Chicago you can sleep in, which was a plus for me. Great value to price ration, given the market prices.
The location is ok for the price, but I would recommend finding some place else in the north of downtown Chicago (the Loop), as it would be closer to the best restaurants. This hotel is really vlose to the Shed Aquarium and the Field Museum.
Perhaps more limited in facilities that you might expect for such a hotel, with not much provided in the rooms, but it is very central and a comfortable place to stay in downtown Chicago.
