Farsheed helped me in real-time by phone to navigate to his location as I had arrived after dark. It was a tremendous help and a relief that he literally walked me through the driving directions to his address, staying on the phone with me until I arrived, exhausted. Very grateful that he went above and beyond the norm to welcome me in that way.

Kailua-Kona just seemed like a beach town anywhere and wasn't our favorite. We adored Hilo and Volcanoes Natl Park and have been to all the islands many times and love them all. This was our first time on the Big Island and we won't be hurrying back to Kona. So sorry to say that. It was crowded and busy which didn't find anywhere else. We're an older couple and my wife is in a halau at home and is an avid hula dancer...we just hoped Kpna would be more "Hawaiian!" Disappointed in the lava beaches too....sand beaches abound elsewhere!

Our flight in was a bit late on arriving.
Our flight in was a bit late on arriving. We were told that if we were past 10 pm it would cost us an additional 30.00. That was our first clue we were in trouble. Place was extremely hard to find especially in the dark. Rooms were built on the external outside of the original residence. We stayed from 10 pm till 6 am the next morning. 8 hours too long. Actually staying in a tent is a better choice!

Nice area for beach walking, picking up tours for snorkeling, 20 minutes to Cloud Forest, Kona Coffee tour, whale watching, and walking the shops and restaurants. Public parking is expensive but some areas validate if you shop with them. Very nice farmer's markets.
The weather was great. We had one big storm move thru overnight that caused some flooding elsewhere, but it did cause some shops to stay closed for a day.

Kona, the town, is quite congested, as one would expect for a resort town. Overall, the Big Island feels more open with room to grow than do the other Hawaiian islands.
The scenery around Kona is a mixture of pretty flowers and barren black lava landscapes. If you go up the mountain a little it gets greener and cooler. Kona itself is quite dry and generally sunny to partly sunny. There are some very nice beaches but some other ones are small and crowded.
If you have time, explore the rest of the island but be sure to allow enough time. It takes the better part of two hours to get to the other side of the island. The scenery is completely different over there. Also, do not miss Hawaii Volcanos National Park. The power of nature is awesome. Be sure to allow enough time as getting there adds about another hour from Kona.
You should visit the Big Island. It is well worth the time. Don't miss snorkeling at the Captain Cook monument. We saw 40-50 different varieties of fish. In most instances, the average snorkeler will want to take a boat excursion to snorkel. There are some sandy beach access points, but sandy access points do not lead to the best snorkeling.

We have been coming to Kona for more than 30 years, about every 2-3 years. This was our first since 2021. Kona has changed greatly. Many small businesses and restaurants have disappeared and town has lost it's uniquness. Most disappointing was the institution of VERY expensive parking throughout the town (with tax, almost $15 per hour!). That stopped us from enjoying strolling through town, window shopping, enjoying ice cream or watching the sunset (parking used to be largely free. We spent our money for dinners at the Keahou shopping restaurants, where parking was free.

We have been coming for 30+ yrs in rotation.
We have been coming for 30+ yrs in rotation. It’s always been a place we want to explore and it is definitely changing. There is still much to do and see….as well as no shortage of food.
Kona is definitely every individual should experience at least once in their lifetime.

Great accommodations at a great location. Although the building is a little dated, suite was clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the quiet of a smaller resort and easy to enjoy both the regular and salt water pool with not many people. Minor problem with the faucet in kitchen but mgmt company was very responsive and had it replaced in a few hours. Walkable to town in 25 min, or catch the free trolley on the hour. Would stay here again.
The resort is a natural-closed area and full of grass and flowers. The environment is pretty good and you may find some cute birds here. We stayed for 5 nights and it was so quite at night and there was no any noise unlike hotels we stayed at other places. The room has everything we needed, including all kinds of cutlery, dish washer, washer and dryer. The staffs here were also nice and kind.
Comfortable 1 bedroom apartment. We were on the top floor with a lanai over looking the golf course. It was quiet. The villa and property facilities suited our needs. We rented a car and so the 'parking included' was perfect. Location wise the resort was within a reasonable driving distance to everything we wanted to do and see during our stay.
Newly renovated, unusually high quality for Hawaii, nice view, optimalsspot to explore the area, great concept, great prices and wonderful staff. Feels like a boutique/design hotel.
