The extensively-refurbished Bridge House Hotel is set in Grasmere, directly across from St Oswalds Church and the graveyard where William Wordsworth rests. Sarah and the rest of the staff were so friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped in the door. The bed was really fantastic, probably one of the best beds I've ever slept in. Even though the duvet was a double duvet (we like our single duvets in Scandinavia), it was still wide enough that we didn't wake each other up during the night. I recommend trying the evening platter with local delicacies one night, just remember to pre-order 24 hrs in advance. I would definitely stay here again the next time I come this way.

Rooms were clean, comfortable, and large. It was family-friendly (we brought an infant), and the owners/staff were friendly. Breakfast was tasty English fare. We liked the location also: close to Whitby, feels very private and secluded in the woods, but less than a 15-min walk from the closest pub. Would recommend!

The room was immaculately decorated throughout and came with complementary snacks and beverages. Access to the property was super easy and the location was perfect.

Social rooms were decorated for the holidays and I wish we could have explored the pretty grounds. Stayed on either end of our trip and, if available, will definitely return.
