Room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast tasty and good variety. Staff very helpful and friendly. Not far from the old town for the Christmas markets. On the number 2 bus route from the airport, only 40 mins ride.

The Holiday Inn Salzburg City, an IHG Hotel, is only a 10-minute walk away from the Mirabell Gardens and a 15-minute walk from the Old Town. We had probably the best room of the hotel - a corner room on the top floor facing the mountains. Two of the walls had ceiling height windows giving us a panoramic view. The hotel is about 1.4 km from the city centre, and is easily walkable. The bus stands are also close by, which connect you to all the sites that one can visit. Breakfast spread is elaborate, even for vegetarians.
