Featuring 3-star accommodation, Old Town Mtatsminda is located in Tbilisi City, 1.2 km from Freedom Square and 600 metres from Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre. We stayed in this hotel 3 times during our stay of one month in Georgia. We highly recommend it. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The room rate was excellent. We stayed in Room 5 (with a small balcony) and Room 7. We liked both rooms, but we especially enjoyed room 7 because it was bigger. Rooms were cleaned daily, which was not done in other hotels we used. Bottled water was provided in the room daily. Thoughtful touches like this made this hotel an excellent choice. People working at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. It was one of the best breakfasts we had; there were some Georgian dishes, and the food varied somewhat from day to day. Even the breakfast room was a comfortable space. If guests are considering using a private driver during their stay, we would suggest asking the owner here for help. He drove us a few times, and he was a careful driver who provided a lot of information. His rates were very competitive. He also picked us up at the airport when we arrived at 4 a.m. Of course, there was a cost, but it certainly reduced our stress of trying to get to the hotel on our own at this time of the day. For runners who are participating in the Tbilisi Marathon (It is a Half Marathon, but organizers refer to it as a marathon. This year it was held on Sunday, October 1, 2023.), this hotel is very well located. It is only a 10-15 minute walk to the start/finish line. We were also given "food boxes" the night before because we would be up too early for breakfast; this was great, as I had some food before running.

The whole character of the property and attention to detail in its decor just had me spellbound. I have stayed all over the world but never at a property that is so unique in design and decor. The layout of the room with the bathtub, the book shelves (and choice of books), the lovely retro style espresso machine and the well thought out bar with all bar tools and even a booklet with cocktail recipes, everything was just so unique and tasteful.
