Tsuruga Resort offers luxurious accommodation and hot-spring baths by Lake Shikotsu. Massage services and a fitness centre are on offer. The spacious rooms include a flat-screen TV and seating area. Loved everything here. The dinner and breakfast is sublime. The quality of the food served at the buffet dinner and breakfast is good, and there is a wide variety and options available. They turn their desserts into artwork and that pleasing both visually and gastronomically. The onsen experience was good especially the outdoor ones. In the resort, they give you white socks to walk around, and that is the testament on the cleanliness level as the socks are still white after a night's stay there. We enjoyed having drinks at the bar near the hearth at the lounge, and just chilled to the talented harpist playing her tunes. Wished we could have stayed another night, but there aren't many activities around the area during winter.

Featuring a spa bath, Lake Shikotsu Tsuruga Bessou AO no ZA is located in Chitose. Food was excellent and welcoming. Only difficulty was knowing how to get there. It was not clear nor was it clear how close the ice festival/sculpture was to the facility. Suprisingly close to ice sculptures and surprisingly seamless transportation to and from facility. However, it was not clear they had transportation to facility and it was diff to figure it out.

Next to Lake Shikotsu, Daiichi Hotel Suizantei features a Japanese garden, hot-spring baths and traditional meals. The spacious rooms include a flat-screen TV, seating area and private bathroom. It was an extremely nice experience. We booked the room with open- air bath tube. Really nice and happy choice. The dinner and breakfast were also included. Both time the food was luxury and extremely fresh and mostly local.

Set in Chitose, Ame no Hi to Yuyake-Adult Only offers accommodation with seating area. The 4-star ryokan features lake views and is 26 km from Tomakomai Station. Guests can make use of a garden. The gelato service is a great surprise
