Dinner and breakfast were very delicious and homely. The ryokan has a retro feel but there are many modern features. The tv in the room allows us to check if anyone is using the family bath. We were able to enjoy the onsen twice during our one night stay. Although there is no shower in the room, it is easy to just go to any available family bath where amenities are provided. The room we had in the annex was huge. Futons were laid out in the bedroom and we could use the living area for our suitcases and lounging around. The owners were very kind. I bought two packets of their sweet miso and didn't realize that I had forgotten to take them until I reached the next prefecture. The owner helped to arrange to send them to another accommodation.

The open air bath in our room was nice. We also had a small balcony to enjoy the quiet and peaceful surroundings. Apart from the private Onsen in the room, they also have onsen facilities for guests. The food was sumptuous and a very good spread.

We loved the atmosphere, the friendliness of the staff, the food and loved the choices of baths. We were greeted enthusiastically and shown to our room after a brief explanation of the layout and other details. It was a cute traditional style room with a little sit-down area as well as a private toilet. There is a shower in each bath, with shampoo/conditioner/body wash. It was lovely, we tried one of the larger ones at first. Tons of room and and the water was just the right heat. We tried 2 other ones during our stay and even the smaller one hd lots of space. It was also the hottest lol The food was exceptional, both dinner and breakfast. There was so much that we couldn't even finish it all but we strived to try it all at least. The fish for dinner may have been the best cooked fish I ever had. Everything was fresh and beautiful, even the plates were a feast for the eyes. The beds were futons on the floor and more comfortable than some I've slept on this trip. I would highly recommend staying here as it was an amazing peaceful break in the middle of our trip to Japan. We rented a car and even just the drive up into the mountains was spectacular.
