Close to a very good izakaya restaurant for dinner as well!

Cinnamon Guesthouse Dogo is situated in the Dogo Hot Spring district of Matsuyama, 1.7 km from Miyukiji Temple, 2.3 km from Ishitegawa Park and 2.7 km from Matsuyama castle. The staff greeted us with shaved ice cream and was very nice and helpfull. The shared space is nice and has everything you need. If you plan to visit go the bamboo forest near the hostel, ask the owner about it!

Located in Matsuyama, the recently renovated いわしの子守唄 Sardine Lullaby provides accommodation 3.8 km from Taisanji Temple and 4.7 km from Enmyoji Temple. The amazing breakfast and the heart warming friendliness of the hosts are the biggest advantages of this place. Strolling through the little harbour town Mitsu is lovely and the train will take you in 15 mins to downtown Matsuyama.

敷島旅館, a property with a garden and a shared lounge, is set in Saijo, 31 km from Henjou-in Temple, 32 km from Kawara Museum, as well as 32 km from Kawaranofurusato Park. Shikishima is a hidden gem ryokan just short train ride outside of Imabari. The staff were extremely kind and I feel their level of service is above and beyond the cost to stay. I was able to enjoy a divine soak in their bath after a long day of cycling and the host carefully washed and folded my laundry for a very low fee. I enjoyed speaking Japanese with the host and helping some other English-speaking guests communicate with her too! A truly wonderful experience. My travelling partner and I loved the rice balls and local mikan orange for breakfast. Simple but delicious food, and clearly made with love using local ingredients. I wish I could have stayed for another night and enjoyed the evening meal too. The host was so friendly and made many suggestions for our trip when we shared our plans. I look forward to coming back to Shikoku and visiting the places she talked about. Thank you!
