The Hotel&Hostel Montarina occupies a historic Villa built around 1860, only 200 metres from the Lugano train station. It offers a park with a pool, free WiFi and a limited number of free parking spaces. I liked the receptionist. She was very informative and very good person. I stayed at a female dormitory and the girls were really nice and very quiet so i had a good night sleep.

Location is very convenient, surroundings are amazing, lots of outdoor space. Everything is extremely clean: beds, rooms, showers, bathrooms. Restaurant is excellent with very good food (I took pasta and it was very very good), they also offer local beers and small-scale wines...very nice place. Ah, and a lot of hiking in the surroundings...

The restaurant serves Swiss and Mediterranean cuisine and packed lunches can be provided. Excellent breakfast with a very good muesli, tasty bread and cheese. Very helpful and friendly staff.

You cannot beat the location. The room was clean and actually very modern. I enjoyed being on top floor. The train track is right next to hotel and that’s the only minus for me. It was loud and woke me up all night but that’s not the hostel’s fault. I would definitely return.
