The location is near the beach, with plenty of nive restaurants nearby. The rooms were big and full of natural light. The common space was well organized, and equipped.

Bed linen and towel included in price. Great location 5 mins from city center. Very helpful staff. Highly recommend and would like to stay there again.

Located within a traditional and historical building in Funchal old town, Santa Maria Hostel is a boutique hostel featuring a vintage-style décor. Great hostel in old town of Funchal. Steps away from restaurants and the market, as well as cable car. Clear check in instructions were given if arriving late. Had a kitchen, several bathrooms, seating area etc. bed room had lockers and locks provided. Wi-Fi worked well. The staff were friendly. The hostel itself seemed to be a historic building and had cool design.

The property is pretty and clean with a large open terrace roof top, fully stocked kitchen and common area, and the room is nice too! It is a "remote access" style guest house as opposed to a "host on site" guest house, and the hosts (and surf instructor) are easy to contact online, friendly and accomodate their guests well!
