The Berchtesgaden National Park is popular with Nordic walkers and hikers. The Austrian town of Hallein, famous for its salt mine, is a 15-minute drive across the German-Austrian border. Lake Chiemsee can be reached in 40 minutes by car via the A8 motorway.
