::: THE SNUG AT FOXHOLES ::: A stylish barn with own entrance, wood burner, patio with furniture, garden with picnic table, kitchen, living area, underfloor heating, bedroom & ensuite, all in the grounds of an old English country house on the edge of the Longleat Estate. The Snug is nestled deep in beautiful countryside and surrounded by forest, lakes, cycle paths and walking paths perfect for easy hiking. There is brand new wifi after we experienced issues. //// Despite being adjoined to the main house, The Snug feels very separate and independent; guests say they feel like they have stayed in a secluded retreat and rarely, if ever, encounter us hosts. //// The Snug is on the borders of Wiltshire, Somerset and Dorset and the historic cities of Bath and Salisbury are nearby, as are Longleat Safari Park, Stonehenge, Frome and Glastonbury. Shops, pubs, galleries and eateries fill the area. //// A CONTINENTAL-STYLE BREAKFAST is included and is waiting for you in a basket in the kitchen area, as well as some items in the fridge (pls advise in advance if vegan or gluten free). There is also self-catering equipment. //// FREE PARKING for two vehicles. /// CHILDREN - please be aware that if you choose to stay with children, there is a wood burner in the kitchen/living area of The Snug (see photos). This obviously gets hot when lit. There is a fire guard, but it is still a safety risk to light the wood burner when children are present. Please understand you light the wood burner at your own risk with children present. Also, please be aware we do not provide children's cots or beds but please bring your own. //// SOFA-BED The living room has a sofabed but it currently has a faulty mechanism and cannot be opened out. We have provided a better, comfy kingsize airbed instead, which easily inflates in under 30 secs when plugged in. //// We are inclusive cosmopolitan hosts, have travelled the world, and created a safe space for diversity and all identities. ::: LOCAL TOURIST ATTRACTIONS INCLUDE (PLEASE RESEARCH IF YOU NEED TO BOOK) ::: -LONGLEAT SAFARI PARK & HOUSE - a drive-through safari, palatial stately home, a full What's On programme (eg winter lights, Autumn Week, Hot Air Balloon festival - check dates on the website), Afternoon Tea in the Orangery, and various cafes and eateries. -AQUA SANA SPA at Center Parcs Longleat (the public can book the spa). -LAKE SHEARWATER, with cycle and walking paths and a Tea Room, a short walk away. -FROME, a quaint town of independent shops, galleries, and restaurants, and an artisan market on the first Sunday of every month (March-Dec). -STOURHEAD, vast landscaped gardens and lake run by the National Trust. There is a Grade 1-listed 18th-Century Neo-Palladian mansion but I'm not sure this is open to public. -BATH, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for and named after its Roman-built baths, which you can visit and tour. In the 18th Century, Bath developed into an elegant town with neoclassical Palladian buildings. -STONEHENGE, a UNESCO World Heritage Site - a world-famous Neolithic monument of stone circles on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire. -SALISBURY & SALISBURY CATHEDRAL a charming medieval city famous globally for its towering cathedral, which has Britain's tallest spire and a copy of the best-preserved of only four surviving Magna Carta (AD1215), listed on the UNESCO 'Memory of the World' register. -WELLS & WELLS CATHEDRAL, with lovely shops and a stunning Gothic cathedral built in the 13th Century that dominates this small quaint city. -HAUSER & WIRTH, a fancy art gallery and restaurant near Bruton. Other H&W galleries are located in NYC, LA, Switzerland, Monaco, Menorca, Hong Kong and London. -GLASTONBURY & GLASTONBURY TOR, a quaint local town. The Tor is a tower on the peak of a hill, mentioned in Celtic mythology, particularly in myths linked to King Arthur. Glastonbury Festival is world famous! -WINCANTON & BATH RACECOURSES - both nearby.
