Richard (Amsterdam, 1967) has built our holiday home with his own hands, and Ruth has decorated it. We love to welcome our guests from all over the world, and see how happy they are to visit our small village Durgerdam plus the vivid centre of Amsterdam. You will love the landscape, the animals, and the remarkable Dutch houses. When you love the beautiful nature here in Waterland and combine it with a cultural experience Amsterdam, we offer you a great holiday We provide bath & bedlinen, toiletpaper and good WIFI & TV The environment: You can do a lot of sports and walks, and bike-rides. Marken, Edam, Alkmaar are just a few miles away. There is a free parking space, just 100 meters walk from the house. Pets: You can bring max 2 dogs We ask you to keep them attached when you go outside, and not to leave them alone in the house. Because the railways are 5 kms from the our address, we advise to come by car or take (Richard's) taxi or an UBER to get to Amsterdam CS or the airport. We also have 2 old bikes: you can lend them to do some groceries nearby. For long bike trips we advice to hire good citybikes at the shopping mall.
We are happy to tell you all about our holiday home in Durgerdam, how to travel and about the touristic spots that most people want to visit. Richard is your host and does all the guests questions, from check in-to check out, gardening and cleaning! And last but not least the has a taxi, so when you don't want to use public transport you can also ask him. Ruth does all communication and the decoration. She is artist and fashion designer, with her own brand in custom made fifties swimwear.
Groceries: De Landmarkt is the nearest (high quality) supermarket with a bakery and many biologic products. There is also a recommendable restaurant!! Open from 9-18h. also on Sunday. Nature: We will show you the best routes for biking, or walking, birds-spotting places in Waterland Culture: In the city center you can visit the Anne Frank house, Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk Museum for modern art. We advice to by entrance tickets on-line. Amsterdam Canals: Canal tours are always a great success! Near CS you will see the ticket service. From the north side of the river IJ you can take the free ferry to CS, and visit Amsterdam city. Shopping & fashion: The Haarlemmerstraat & de Jordaan are the best places for (vintage) shopping.
