Casa das Xaras lies in a spacious property (10 000 square meters) in the heart of the rural area of the Natural Park of Sintra-Cascais, around 10 km from Sintra National Palace, and is fully certified for local accommodation and included in the Sintra Inn initiative. This cozy villa (granted Booking awards in 2023 and 2024) is ideal for families and groups of friends to relax and enjoy their time, as it provides a quiet and isolated space with excellent housing and garden conditions, and is in a pivotal location for exploring the regions of Sintra, Lisbon, Cascais-Estoril and Mafra-Ericeira.
The property offers large open spaces, namely a front yard facing an attractive pool with deck, barbecue and a supporting pool house (porch, bathroom and kitchen), well integrated in a large lawn, as well as another large lawn next to the kitchen back yard. The villa consists of a large living room with fireplace and TV, 6 double rooms, one with a double bed and 5 with 2 attachable single beds (a sofa bed is available in one of these), 5 bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen. Free WiFi and free private parking are provided
Guests can take in the ambience of the surroundings from an outdoor dining area or keep themselves warm by the fireplace on colder days and be able to enjoy activities in and around Sintra like hiking, cycling or surfing.
The villa is only a short distance from Sintra with its monuments and cultural landscape as well as from excellent beaches, allowing an optimal combination of relaxing moments for getting around with cultural and other activities (check the tourist office for more information)
Just 5 minutes away, Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (the first European Cultural Landscape in 1995) offers beautiful landscapes with lush green vegetation and many historical monuments to visit, namely the National Palace of Sintra, the Pena Palace, the Moorish Castle, the Capuchin Convent and the Monserrate Palace.
More than a dozen beaches may be enjoyed in Sintra and its surroundings including Praia Grande, Praia das Maçãs, Azenhas do Mar, Magoito/Aguda, Adraga, Guincho and Ericeira, with excellent conditions for surfing and body boarding. Several very enjoyable trails are perfectly safe for walking even for children, either by the cliffs or in Sintra Hills ending at Roca Cape (the western most continental point of Europe).
The Cultural Landscape of Sintra provides a most suitable environment for various leisure activities (see ActiveSintra web site), including bicycle riding, Ziplining, Hang Gliding and Paragliding, as well as climbing and abseiling or yoga. Less than 30 minutes by car you can find several world-class golf courses either in the Sintra municipality (Penha Longa, Beloura, Carregueira or Belas) or in nearby Cascais (Marinha, Oitavos, Estoril).
