We stayed in more than 25 hotels in Japan (including a JPY 50,000 per night stay in a luxury hotel) and the staff here are the most hospitable to think that this was the most affordable one. Super highly recommended

Beautiful wooden hotel.
The check in was perfect. Aya was exceptionally king and friendly and she explained everything about the hotel in great detail.
The location is great, close to the park (with the deer) and also close to Nara's lively town center.
Perched atop a hill overlooking the cityscape of Nara, ANDO HOTEL NARA Wakakusayama is just a brief 15-minute shuttle ride from JR Nara Station.

This hotel is worth every penny. The rooms are AMAZING! The view from the hot baths is wonderful. The 7 course dinner was delicious and breakfast was huge! Our children (10 and 14) were very well catered for.

This is a great little find, only 10 mins from the station and within walking distance to the beautiful Nara Park and the Deer. The rooms are lovely in the old sake brewery's place you will be greeted by the nicest staff all ready to assist with anything. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel, which was delightful and delicious. If you want to be transported in time this place is for you.

You might want to go to Himuro Shrine (氷室神社) for a quieter location to admire the cherry blossoms (during spring) and to feed the deer with less competition from other tourists! The deer may be more aggressive though, since they are more hungry (due to less tourists in the area feeding them).

Is very busy and packed with tourists in peak season.
Is very busy and packed with tourists in peak season. The deer closer the entrance are very aggressive so will charge you and bite your clothes to get biscuits. Go further up the park to get some peace and quiet and meet calmer deer.
Also, some tourists will feed wrappers and ice cream to the deer thinking it is funny. If you see this, please tell them not to. The deer will get sick.

Japanese breakfast and Kaiseki dinner were wonderful (if not included in your stay you should book dinner in advance).
The traditional Japanese room was very beautiful, spacious and quiet. The hotel is very conveniently located close to Nara Park, a lively shopping mall and Kintetsu station.
The whole staff was always very kind and helpful.
The apartment is located close to the Nara park, in a commercial street. The apartment had the feeling of a modern though traditional Japanese apartment. The little, very clean bathroom was very nice for a bath after the visits.
This hotel was absolutely stunning. It backs onto a beautiful private deer paddock where the cafe is.
Our room (Japanese twin) was HUGE!
Well worth the money and literally 200m from Nara park. We will 100% stay here again.
The hotel is located right opposite the JR train station, and about a 15 minute walk from the Kintetsu station. It is super easy to walk to the Nara Park along the city’s main pedestrian drag, or catch a bus to other attractions. The room was big for the Japanese standards, had a tv, a fridge and an electric kettle. The staff was super friendly (few spoke English). At the reception you could pick additional pillows, PJs, shampoo, drinks, you name it. Breakfast was big and varied.
Japanese style hotel, relaxing atmosphere, both Japanese and western style breakfasts were of excellent quality. Access to late afternoon drinks and snacks whilst overlooking hotel garden was a bonus and a great way to relax after exploring Nara. Location is quiet once all day tourists have gone and is close to Nara Park.
Comfortable, modern and spacious hotel and room in a central location a few minutes walk from Kintetsu Nara station. The hotel sits conveniently at the border between Nara Park with its great temples, and the area of shops and restaurants around the train station. It sits besides a busy road, but with the windows closed this is no bother at all and our stay was quiet and relaxed. We recommend the breakfast, both the Japanese and the Western options are great.
Staff were great, professional, very helpful and warm.
Everything! Hotel is right outside of the Nara Station, very close to the bus stops and tourists information center. There are a lot of restaurants nearby. Nara Park is 20 minutes by walk along the main shopping street. Very very convenient! Hotel has a nice natural hot spring and offers unlimited free drinks of Japanese sake, wine, beer, tea and coffee, unbelievable. Room is big, ckean and comfortable.
It's was a good place where is close to the kintetsu station & Nara park. If you want to stay fair price hotel you should check KOSEN ANNEX (japanese style hotel). When you get there you don't need to be worry communicate with the staff because they can speak English & japanese well.
This hotel is very conveniently located near the Nara Station (5 minute walk). It is also a short walk (5-6 minutes) to downtown where there are really nice shops and restaurants. It is also a 15-20 minute walk to Nara Park where there are beautiful shrines and very tame deer wandering around. The breakfast at the hotel very good. It featured both western style food and Japanese food.
