I loved the feel of this boutique hotel and the decor of my suite, adding a touch of rustic elegance. The vegeterian breakfast was a spread of delights with a Mexican twist, with the sound of a pool waterfall as the perfect morning backdrop.
The owners, a friendly Australian couple, not only extended a personal welcome to each guest, but were on hand (via WhatsApp) to give tips and guidance on things to do (and avoid). All staff were fabulous, and I need to give Mel a shout-out who looked after me exceptionally well.
The hotel is a keeper and I may well go back to Merida just to stay here again.

The hotel is a mansion lovingly converted into a hotel by the original owner’s great grandson Raul. He greeted us like family and made sure to check in all week to make sure we were being spoiled enough.
The outside and interior courtyard featuring a large fountain are beautiful and the public areas inside are furnished with wonderful ceramics, paintings, furniture and plants.
The restaurant in the hotel serves excellent food in the courtyard, the bar and a patio area right outside the main entrance. Waitstaff are so solicitous and friendly; it was a pleasure to see them every morning for our delicious breakfasts.
We had room service one night, ate a snack on the patio one afternoon and had dinner there on a different day. The food never disappointed.
All of the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and it nice to meet the manager, Ivan who I had communicated with prior to our trip.
The hotel is very close to the main plaza, shopping, restaurants and walking distance to Paseo Montejo which features some beautiful French influenced mansions built when Merida was one of the wealthiest cities in the world due to the henequin or sisal trade.
Our room was large, had lots of storage for clothes and had stenciled walls and a sitting area in addition to a desk. The bed was very comfortable.
The bathroom was also large and had great water pressure in the oversized shower.
We spent a week there including Christmas and got to enjoy trips to cenotes, the ruins at Uxmal and a day at the beach near Progreso.
We also enjoyed a festive Christmas Eve hotel dinner with live music, decorations and a special menu featuring 4 courses and wine.
We will definitely stay again on another trip to Merida. It is rare to find such personal attention and relaxed atmosphere in an historical building.
Great work Raul!!

Everything was so good. The staff were exceptional! The place was fab - they’d thought of everything, even leaving insect repellent around the place when it was needed!

Easy to navigate, helpful staff (even with only moderate Spanish). Buses to various locations were convenient. Do your research; lots of buses and collectivos leave from “alternate” bus depots. And the bus depot at the end of Montejo Avenue can be a convenient alternative (we caught the ADO bus to Valladolid there, closer to our hotel than the main bus depot).

brand new station - probably only opened within the last few months (we visited in mid Jan). Near the location of the old second class bus terminal (at 68 & 70 streets). Google maps has not yet updated this location - it is called the "unified" station or something (but TAME station will get you close) - all buses (1st and 2nd class) now go out of this station.
