This was an unforgettable experience. After staying at this hotel we decided we will reserve again here during our next trip, for more than two nights. Wonderful location in the middle of the nature, the room is very spacious and very clean, the open-air bath is great for relaxation and charging the batteries. They provide wonderful skin products ( cleaning, peeling, moisturizing). I loved soaking at any time of the day or night watching how it was snowing and listening to that little river nearby. The food, breakfast and supper, were diversified and delicious. The staff is very professional and helpful. My only suggestion for the staff is to add an English version of the little card in the bathroom advising the tap water is not drinkable because it's thermal water. The card is only in Japanese and I used my Google image to translate with my phone, but other guests may simply ignore it. Beside that, everything was excellent. I miss Ashinomaki and Marumine Kanko already. Thank you for your amazing hospitality.

breakfast was good with quite a bit of choices. Was very surprised at how good the croissants were, as good as those I had before in Paris. Something different was the 'Egg fried rice' which was whipped egg whites on yummy rice and a raw yolk. Definitely should try the Outdoor bath, its beautiful.

A few days before the start of our journey, the hotel contacted us to say that they were unfortunately unable to provide us with the room due to work. However, they offered to book a room for us at their partner hotel, which was only a few minutes' walk away at Kutsurogijuku Shintaki.
The staff were very accommodating and even when we asked for a vegan dinner, everything was made possible.
We were very satisfied.

Wonderful experience. We visited in the winter and the room was very warm, comfortable and clean. Sitting under the kotatsu while drinking tea was super pleasant.
The establishment itself has a very traditional, historic japanese look, both inside and out, and is very well preserved and walking around it was a very memorable experience.
The private bath was also great and soaking in it was very relaxing.
The traditional japanese breakfast was served in front of an indoor fireplace and was delicious.
The staff were very pleasant and hospitable and made the entire stay memorable.
It was also snowing outside and a night walk around the surrounding area was very peaceful and felt quite magical.

My family and I absolutely loved our stay here. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful view. I imagine it would be even more stunning during autumn. The service was exceptional, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, both dinner and breakfast. They even prepared a special kids' meal for my son, which was so thoughtful. If we ever have the chance to visit this city again, we would definitely stay here

Beautiful location by the river, lovely Japanese style room, wonderfully relaxing private outdoor onsen which you can book for 45 minutes, amazing kaiseki evening meal. The evening shamisen performance was a nice touch. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, spoke English to us, and catered for my husband’s food allergy. Thanks so much for a delightful stay!
The town where the hotel is situated felt a bit sad, like a ghost village, but it had a mysterious vibe that we reallyliked. It was different from the busy places we're used to. One of the highlights of our stay was undoubtedly the hotel's bathing facilities. The public onsen was great, and we were pleased to find it well-maintained and clean.
Beautiful, very spacious traditional room with private onsen overlooking a breathtaking view of the snowy mountains. Very attentive front desk, great internal souvenir store. Didn't get to try the food or the public onsen. Local scenery is absolutely gorgeous nestled among the mountains and the river. A hotel shuttle is available to get to Ashinomakionsen Station.
Probably the best place we stayed in the two weeks in Japan. Everything is perfect! Highly recommend for anyone reading this to take the effort to go, be it driving there or taking the train.
Plus point it the private onsens are really affordable. Don’t save your money just splurge it on the private onsens they offer!
a nice traditional Japanese onsen (hot spring pubic bath). The bath is spacious and has nice water fall view. Room is a bit old but large and comfortable. Meal option is very limited. You can order a full course Japanese dinner, but no other options.
Breakfast: Excellent buffet spread in a lovely restaurant. Sit next to the windows for a great view of the town
Facilities: Four different hot spring facilities to use, the air baths were clean and comfortable to use, 2 of which had great views of the river. A lounge bar with free drinks and snacks is also available.
Rooms: Standard ryokan-quality rooms, soft and comfortable beds
