Hotel in Playa del Carmen
Located in Playa del Carmen, 8.8 km from Playa del Carmen Maritime Terminal, Hotel Xcaret Arte - All Parks All Fun Inclusive - Adults Only provides accommodation with free bikes, free private parking,... I have put some thoughts before writing this review.. the thing is this is probably one of the best resorts in the world! I mean it’s not ultra fancy, perfect nor it is for everyone, but I think it’s for most of people out there. It’s new, eco friendly, massive, clean, organized, locally focused, Mexican in heart with amazing food and drinks and gives access to all xcaret brand parks and facilities (besides casa de la playa, the most exclusive one). In a lot of ways it improves the already good Xcaret Mexico hotel (the first one). Indeed 3 years ago I have stayed in Xcaret Mexico hotel and besides the obvious absence of children in this one I founded the service much better overall, the refinement improved, the materials although similar are newer and feel more modern and stylish. I really appreciated the scent change in bath amenities, much better than in the previous hotel (actually I have complained before). In the first day I was a little disappointed as the main pool was very cold…don’t know if a conversation I had with the pool staff had any consequence but the following days the water was so much warmer, it was really enjoyable! So it is definitely a heated pool! The hotel should keep it always warm as its the best spot of the resort to linger! I also found a smaller pool besides building Casa Musica that is much hotter than the others, a calm place to relax and to enjoy great coktails (secret spot!). The food. Where to start… a massive main restaurant Mercado de San Juan which can be overwhelming big, delivers impressive high quality food considering the variety and the massive amount of food available all day long. I just think it is not well organized, there is deserts in the middle, Mexican food scattered around, and just seems a little confusing to navigate. Regarding the a la Carte restaurants they are all good quality but Tah Xido and Encanta restaurants were a level above the rest, truly amazing experience!

Tulum is paradise - palm trees, wide white sandy beaches with a crystal clear turquoise sea. Tulum is really quiet and super chilled. It's not a place to come to party, thankfully! People are lovely, it's really safe (though walking at night you need to be aware of scorpions and tarantulas) and there is so much to do in and around Tulum that you need at least 2 weeks to do it all. Taxis, food and drink are cheap and in great abundance. If you visit any sites in Quintana Roo and the Yucatanm make sure you're there at 8am as by 10am they are already packed.
Cancun proper, is much different from the "Zona Hotelera". The state of Quintana Roo was founded in 1973, and as a tax base, high dollar tourism was planned to be the main income source. Now some 40 years later, 80% of the area is covered in pavement, which leaves little or no place for water to drain, and on top of that, there are 20,000 hotel rooms a day flushing toilets that drain into the lagoon where boats, tubes and jet skis are rented to ignorant tourists to swim and play, due to little or no sewage treatment on the paninsula. Another beautiful place destroyed by human consumption. On the lighter side, I found all of the locals to be friendly and welcoming. Many, who's entire weeks salary adds up to what we may spend on a single nights dinner were more than deserving of my thanks and gratitude.
Great place for diving, please combine with the Cenotes on the Quintana Roo mainland and shark or whale shark dives depending the season
Amazing town... People were friendly, beaches clear and clean, the main strip pleasant to walk through with shops and restaurants, bars and clubs are busy for nightlife, not too commercial (yet), plenty to do around town and also around the area (quintana roo).. only good things to say!
Bacalar is a great place to visit. It is a pearl of Quintana roo and has plenty to offer in terms of nature, sports, local (law key food), etc. When selecting a place to stay, be aware that some people are taking advantage of the turism and can overcharge you for rather low quality of service. Have a look around and ask for prices, everyone can find something to satisfy his/her budget.
extremely touristy, most mexican people were workers rather than customers. Much more separation between local people and visitors compared to everywhere else we travelled in Mexico. (It was the only place we visited on the Quintana Roo coast) The beaches are beautiful, but most hidden behind hotels. Some of the local cenotes are superb!
An alternative to the glitzy largeness of Cancun, still with plenty of its own nightlife. Expect turquoise water and loads of day trip options. A perfect base for exploring Quintana Roo.
Tourist trap. Over rated for what it is. We‘be been travelling all over the Yucatán peninsula and Quintana Roo. If you want to party and have fun this place is great for that but if you want to see a bit of the peninsula some quiet and relaxation then avoid this place. You’ll find better places down the coast where beaches are not overfilled.
Holbox is exactly how I imagined Mexico would be. I’ve been traveling in a lot of places in Yucatan and Quintana Roo and Holbox is my absolute favorite! It is quite, relaxing but a lot of great restaurants and bars and beautiful beaches. They use golf carts to get around which is super fun because you can always rent one.
Too many tourists and aggressive sales people all around the area from Cancun to Tulum! We've spent a night in Playa del Carmen only because we went to the Cirque du Soleil. Honestly I prefer the rest of Yucatan than Quintana Roo and Riviera Maya
Easily the best place to stay if you are in Quintana Roo. It is too bad that we only had two nights booked, but it was the best hotel experience we've ever had. The breakfast was simply amazing and rich. The restaurant was really delicious. They also had a private cenote which was a great addition to the overall experience. I would highly recommend having a rent-a-car if you are staying here, as this is the only convenient way of transportation (in Quintana Roo in general). We would definitely stay here next time we are in Quintana Roo.
I was reading a lot of feedback about a beach in Catalonia Royal and yes - definitely this is the best beach I have been to in Mexico so far in Quintana Roo - turquoise water in high sargasso season (no sargasso there). Great is also you can book catamaran trip which I really loved (thank you for it;)). Food is fantastic as you can choose daily from several restaurants - favorite was an Italian one with the best pizza in the world. I enjoyed a lot all animals living in the garden under apartments part.
Cozumel
Manuel was very accommodating and catered to our every need. The first night they were without electricity following a hurricane and so they arranged a different hotel for us to stay in. The location is away from the business of the town and surrounded by beautiful birds, it's a very relaxing and secluded place to retreat to after a morning out in the sea. We felt very comfortable and able to acclimatise here for a week before moving on to other locations in quintana roo.
We found Puerto Morelos to be a pleasant first stop on our Yucatan Peninsula journey, and our stay at Yax Kiin was an integral part of our sense of the town. A short walk from the beach, the hotel offered easy access to tasty restaurants & a morning run around town. Should we make a return trip to Quintana Roo, we would likely stay longer in Puerto Morelos, since it avoids the hustle & bustle of Cancun & Playa del Carmen.
Clean. Spacious. Friendly. The hotel office is basic amenities and is very well located on a main road just outside of town probably one of the better hotels in this small town in Quintana Roo.
Hotel room is the best throughout our road trip in Quintana Roo.
The beach, the pool and my view was pretty good. Marcos, a front desk staff was so helpful and patient, and always cheerful… thank you
Amazing pool, location and staff.
It’s a smaller Hotel. The staff was really friendly and always trying to help doesn’t matter what. Everything you need for relaxation you get in the hotel. The food was really delicious. I liked a lot the buffet for dinner and you can choose your main course Al a carte so it was very fresh, just made for you.
We arrived late after spending most of our day at the airport and without our luggage, The staff were friendly and helpful, We were worn out from the worst travel experience with Delta airlines (don’t fly Delta) everything that could go wrong did go wrong with that airline from booking in the beginning to theft from my luggage at the end, three nights after my flight and I still don’t have a reasonable answer from them about my stolen items, one of which was a tracking device… The stupidest theft on the planet! We woke up slightly refreshed and found we had our own private infinity pool that overlooked the beautiful blue of the ocean, we didn’t have any clothes or swimmers and the staff helped to direct us to the nearest mall, sadly nothing was open though but we were lucky to find a couple of shops nearby that had some suitable clothing items, so we headed back to the room which was clean and comfortable and because our luggage still hadn’t arrived and would not until our next hotel, the staff were kind enough to allow us a late check out of 1pm while we waited, so we soaked up more of the sun and crystal water while we waited for our luggage and to check out. Lovely buffet breakfast, traditional Mexican food and reasonable prices. lots of vegetables and after spending two weeks in America and not having enough Vegetables due to all the junk food everywhere, I was stoked to get a good fill of fruit and veggies to start the day right!
I liked how unique the hotel was and the jungle vibe. It was peaceful.
Clean rooms, great breakfast options, the rooms with the walk out pool was nice, friendly staff and most importantly super safe environment
Amazing place with unique beauty, our casita was just at the beachfront. Privacy, minimalistic luxury, nature.
Beautiful topfloor suite, childfriendly pool, awesome waterpark, very nice staff, good facilities, pretty beach, appetizing food
Everything was great, we loved our stay ! The beds are very comfortable, there are many restaurants offering varied and good food, the staff is lovely, the pool is huge and the garden lovely. We particularly liked the singer on Wednesday evening, (Garcia), he should come more often. We will come back ! Big thanks to the team who took care of us during our stay: Raul (Reception), Martin (American Bistrot), Hector (aquagym), Irving (breakfast), Carlos (towels), Manual (drinks at Carey), Felix (spa)
Fantastic view and location. Friendly staff and a special thanks to Hector, who was amazing towards us the whole stay.
Xcaret deserves a 10/10 because this place really is something else. The people working there are incredibly kind. The premises are spotless and what you see on most pictures is really what you get ! The hotel has many pools and caletas along the river that surrounds it where it really is enjoyable for the kids to swim. The food in all restaurants was very good. The room was very nice. All activities were well organized by a concierge. There are buses to take you to the various parks included in the price.
Everything!! It was very nice, very clean, and the staff was very friendly.
