Make no mistake, this hotel is rustic and a bit dated. And it is very isolated. We thought that added to the experience. The hotel has so much character it really appealed to us. The room was basic and felt like it was from another era. But, the view was incredible and we had our own private, tiny, balcony. The common areas were really fun. There were a variety of sitting areas in many different styles. Some areas, including the dining room, have great windows looking out on amazing views. For such an isolated location diner was amazing. We highly recommend the reindeer steak and the roast lamb. This was our favorite meal in Norway. We were surprised how close the waterfall is and enjoyed walking around there late in the evening when we had the place to ourselves.

Staff were very helpful. They fixed the loud, squeaky bathroom door handle within a few hours of us reporting it. They loaned us an iron and ironing board. The location was excellent. It was quiet but fairly close to the main tourist area. There were good views in almost every direction. There was free parking and good WiFi. There were lots of shelves (though not in the bathroom). The shower was excellent (good pressure, steady temperature, good enclosure). The bed was softer-than-average, which I liked. The pillow was good (not too thick). The breakfast was good except for the juice which was watery. The on-site restaurant is very good and is open for dinner until 9 p.m., but it has only a small menu. (It is closed on Tuesday evenings.) There are other restaurants nearby, as well as a food truck that sells Thai food. The lounge area is roomy. There are no TV's which I liked (i.e. no loud TV sounds coming from other rooms). Though we heard some noise from the hallway, we never heard sounds from the two adjoining rooms. One can't accidentally lock oneself out of one's room because you have to use your key to lock the door.

On the ground floor of the hotel, there was a bakery with the most delicious pastries and good coffee. The room itself was clean, with a tiny kitchen and all the necessary utensils. We stayed as a group of four and had beds in separate rooms; essentially, it was two separate rooms with individual entrances, connected by a door. We had breakfast included, but it's worth noting that breakfast is served at another hotel, about a 5-minute walk away.

So pleasantly surprised! Our room was brand new, modern and clean, the bed was very comfortable, lots of space and nice view. The breakfast was nice, plenty of options and the staff was friendly. Overall, great expeerience and great value for money.

Everything was extraordinary, great attention to details. The food was the best that I've ever had in Norway! They have an excellent chef, great wine and whiskey choices. Friendly and genuinely sincere staff. Top notch, HIGHLY recommended.
