Tagoto 3 stars

Aizuwakamatsu

Japanese-style rooms have a tatami (woven-straw) floor and traditional futon bedding, while Western rooms come with beds and an en suite bathroom. All rooms are air-conditioned and fitted with an LCD TV and a fridge. The food was delicious, plentiful and allowed us to try traditional cuisine as well as some new foods we hadn't tried before. An open mind is required for some of the sashimi's. The futon beds were very comfortable and the bathing room was amazing. The hostesses were so friendly and helpful, we were travelling with our 10 month old and they all loved him and were understanding when he was loud at times. We would love to stay here again in the future. Knowing basic Japanese or using Google translate is highly recommended if visiting this accomodation.

I like everything at that Hotel. Very helpful front desk, all staff tried to speak English and help you as much as they could. Very delicious meal at the restaurant. My son was getting out of his job very late so the restaurant offered Bento Box even at a late time. The thermal spa facilities are very good and the value of them. Also, there are massage chairs available free of charge. Free parking. If you have a lot of luggage, there’s a delivery service that you can ask for help at their souvenir shop and send your luggage directly to the airport or other location where you go. It will deliver just the next day and the price is very cheap. it helps me a lot.

The units in the ryokan are fitted with a kettle. There is a private bathroom with bidet in some units, along with slippers, a hair dryer and free toiletries. All units will provide guests with air conditioning, a safety deposit box and a flat-screen TV.

Guests are welcome to unwind in the on-site lounge, while a minimarket is also available. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. All the food was amazing, buffet style breakfast is so diverse - there's seriously a little bit of everything. I found myself making sure I was as hungry as possible to give my best attempt to try it all! The staff were so helpful, we are so appreciative of everyone putting up with the language barrier and really making sure we were having the best time and we knew which bus to take. Highly recommend the set dinner as well, very good value for money. Best dining experience I've ever had, all the dishes were presented amazingly. The seasonal sides were a nice touch and the Sake went down very well. Location is great, all the baths were very relaxing. We stayed on the 5th floor facing the river which added to the tranquility. This is my second time going to a traditional Ryokan Onsen town, first time at a hotel and it's something everyone should do, it resets you, grounds you and brings you back to reality with a new spring in your step, life can be so simple and there's nothing that makes you feel this more, than a few "stripped back" days in an Onsen town.
