Amenities include a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a fridge and toiletries. Guests sleep in Japanese futon bedding, and the rooms come with an all-wooden bathroom. The traditional room was amazing and very spacious, with very clean facilities and a small balcony for a relaxing bath outside. The onsen upstairs was very clean and very inviting with exceptional facilities. The staff were amongst the most friedly people we met on our travels around Japan providing us with a guide on popular routes to explore around Nara and offering additional services such as taking a photo of us and a free gift bag. The traditional breakfast was incredible, providing us with a very memorable experience.

Yamato may not be the closest to Osaka, but it is still pretty close to Ikoma station from where you can take the Kintetsu line into the city. The area around the ryokan is amazing, but warning - the stairs going up to it are only easy downwards :D Yamato itself is amazing, it has everything for the traditional ryokan experience - tatami, futon, onsen and yukata. The owner is super nice and she even asked her husband to help me with my big luggages, thank you so much! I would definitely come back here if I'm in the area!
Sakurai
At the ryokan, the units are equipped with a wardrobe, a flat-screen TV, a private bathroom, bed linen and towels. A fridge and kettle are also featured. The units are equipped with heating facilities. I can’t say enough good things about this place. It is truly a traditional ryokan stay. Accommodation - The rooms are spacious, very clean, you get all the amenities you can imagine, it has an onsen and the food is delicious. Staff - The staff is beyond wonderful - we were greeted by name when we arrived and throughout the stay. And the staff actually put the effort to pronounce my name correctly (not the Japanese version of it). Not everyone speaks English but honestly it doesn’t even matter. I would like to say a big “Thank you” to Shimoda-sama who served us dinner for two nights. She is such a lovely lady and so was the rest of the staff working there from the receptionist to the door attendants who would run to the door when we would arrive. I also think we were the only people in the hotel for the first 2 nights. Food - The food was delicious and served in a private, big room. It wasn’t cheap though and we had to order it in advance (same day in the morning) because we didn’t pre-book it. There aren’t a lot of options to eat nearby either, being in a quite remote location. There is a restaurant at the temple across the road but it closes at 3 PM. Location - The location is a bit remote but it’s beautiful, in the woods and across the road from an ancient temple, maybe one of the most beautiful I’ve seen in Japan so far. There is a bus station next to the hotel but the buses don’t come very often - maybe once/hr? The hotel also offered us a free shuttle bus at certain times. I would recommend to take a walk/ hike to Asuka village from the hotel. We made a day trip out of it because it can take a few hrs but it was all worth it. We saw wild wisteria, walked through rice fields, empty hills filled with flowers and saw wild monkeys in the woods.
Dorogawa Onsen, Tenkawa
An Asian breakfast is available daily at the ryokan. There is a coffee shop, and packed lunches are also available. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. Everything was outstanding: so quiet and typical, private room for the meals, incredibly kind personnel, remote place, access to the japanese wilderness (trek, torrent, forrest...)
Yoshino

Friendly staff in a clean and quiet ryokan style hotel right next to Naramachi, central Nara, and the park. The rooms were nice with a tatami area as well as a little reading space next to the windows overlooking the pond.
-Onsen , it was nice, clean, big with a lot of amenities, all you needed was there. There was also some refreshment for afterward, a tatami room to relax -amenities -breakfast was also enjoyable with lots of items. -staff was friendly and helpful specially the morning staff at the breakfast buffet. -ice dispenser machine
The rooms are cute and traditional style, very clean and the tatami is really comfortable. The onsen is perfect for ending the day. Really close to the Park, the staff is very helpful. Everything was perfect!
Very nice place to stay at and an interesting experience to be in a hotel with tatami everywhere and you will walk barefoot inside the hotel. Then onsen is really nice and the rooms are cozy.
Great location as we did not expect the hotel is just located right next to the Nara Station. We were carrying big luggages but the hotel is just so accessible. Across the road, it's busiest street of Nara. All the way till the end you can find the legendary mochi place. But what makes the stay experience so great is that there's tatami flooring in the entire hotel. There's also free flow ice-cream provided after onsen.
Extremely friendly staff, the kaiseki dinner was delicious with a lot of variety, same for the breakfast (opted for Japanese style). Everything was clean, the room was amazing, clean yukatas and haoris were provided daily, the futon beds were very comfortable. This Ryokan is very well located as it's very close to the Kintetsu-Nara train station (with direct trains to both Kyoto and Osaka) and the main streets while still in a very quiet area. Definitely recommend to anyone staying in Nara, either for just one night or for a few days!
The onsen was amazing and the breakfast was one of the most unique experiences in Nara! Recommend if you want to live the Japanese experience having and amazing time in a tatami room, sleeping in a Futon and having an amazing view from an onsen ❤️
The room was perfectly cleaned and was convenient and quiet, typical tatami floors and futon bed to sleep on. The area is quiet but very central and within walking distance to all major attractions. The staff was very helpful and polite and they accommodated all of my requests. The private onsen is amazing to have and I enjoyed it very much. Would highly recommend staying here!
The Ryokan is literally 1min walk from the station, in a peatonal street full of shops. The personal was very kind and they were always trying to help. They took care of our luggage before the check in and after the check out. The room was amazing with tatami floor and they left a yukata for each gest. The Onsen was amazing and very relaxing. The breakfast was incredible, everything in the menu was amazing and very tasty. 100% recommended
Lovely spacious tatami room, very comfortable futon. Room did have ensuite bathroom, but we enjoyed the nice big hot shared baths available, much like going to a sento. Yukata were provided too. Teas and senbei in the room were very welcoming.
