I wish I could have stayed longer in the temple! A very authentic experience with the room only being heated by a heat pump. Great location in the middle of all of the attractions. The food experience was also amazing: sitting on a mat in nicely decorated chamber with bamboo walls separating from other members staying in the temple. I also had the chance of bathing in the onsen which was amazing to have it onsite!

This place has a 9.1 rating and most reviews seem too good to be true but trust me on this, this place is THAT good. And I would rate this hotel a 100 out of 10 if I can, the high rating is truly deserved. The staff is very kind and welcoming. The rooms are clean, spacious, and the futon is comfortable. The location is great, there are many food places nearby, the beach is just a few minutes walk away (you can even see it from your room depending on where you are placed), and the bus stop which will take you to the station or most places around Shirahama is very near.

Berlokasi terbaik di wilayah Kawayu Onsen di Tanabe, Minshuku Sumiya berlokasi 12 km dari Hosshinmon Oji Shrine, 20 km dari Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art, dan 23 km dari Kumanoshi Kiwakozan... The stay at Minshuku Sumiya was just amazing! After walking the part of Kumano Kodo to Hongu Taisha, we were welcomed by the very cheerful and friendly host of the minshuku who immediately told us about the great public onsen near the river, presented us some (a lot!) mandarin oranges from the area and had our room ready in no time even though we didn't have to check in yet (and it was quite early, before the check-in time). All in all, fantastic place, great view on the river, very clean and nice: we felt directly at home.

An unforgettable experience at a lovely guesthouse attached to a Buddhist temple. The accommodations were very spacious and the location both convenient and lovely. The vegan feasts for dinner and breakfast were amazing. Koyasan is not to be missed!

Located in Koyasan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 高野山 宿坊 常喜院 -Koyasan Shukubo Jokiin- offers free private parking. All rooms include a flat-screen TV. This was absolutely amazing. The room is spacious, the heating is fantastic, the futons comfortable, the hot spring is peacful, the view is breathtaking, the staff is welcoming and the meals are superb. Bonus: our room was facing to the garden and there was the most chill and cute goat hanging around. Just a cool surprise.
