For one night in May, Condé Nast Traveller readers were invited to an intimate evening with Louis Roederer Champagne at Mimi Mei Fair. One of the last great family-owned Champagne houses, Louis Roederer is a leader in organic and biodynamic farming. The house’s export manager Alexis Deligny came over from France to guide guests through a carefully curated selection of Champagnes.

Mimi Mei Fair sits within a chic Georgian townhouse, complete with resplendent Chinoiserie interiors that draw inspiration from across the decades – from ancient folklore to Beijing’s Forbidden City palace and 1920s Shanghai. Guests arrived at the first floor parlour, spectacularly decorated with Flowerbx blooms, to enjoy Louis Roederer Collection 244 MV served with rich beef puffs and salt and pepper tofu.

As guests moved into the main dining room Alexis introduced the first course, paired with the everesent Louis Roederer Cristal 2015. A sharing selection of crispy golden langoustine with périgord truffle, baked Chilean sea bass with Chinese honey and seafood dim sum made for a perfect pairing.

A selection of Mimi's iconic dishes arrived for the second course, including Singapore chilli prawns, sambal chilli, coriander and sweet sesame mantou cigars, and a tender beef fillet with crushed black pepper and garlic flakes. The energetic Louis Roederer Rosé 2016 Vintage was the perfect pairing for the spicy rich flavours of the food, thanks to its fresh intensity.
