The IP (Ingress Protection) rating, also known as the International Protection rating, is a standard defined by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) that classifies the degrees of protection provided by enclosures for electrical equipment against the intrusion of solid objects (including body parts like hands and fingers), dust, accidental contact, and water.
