About the Flag of Roraima

According to Luiz Aimberê Soares de Freitas, Estudos Sociais de Roraima (Geografia e História): the flag of Roraima was designed by Mário Barreto, who said the blue was for pure air and the sky of Roraima, white for peace, green for the forests and fields, and yellow for mineral riches. The star represents Roraima as another state in the national flag, while the red stripe is the Equator cutting through the state, most of which is in the northern hemisphere.
Joseph McMillan, 25 July 2002

I had the access to law 133 of the State of Roraima of 14 June 1996 in which the flag is offically defined. Reading the law, I was surprised to see, the blue of the flag is defined as turquoise!

The flag consists of three diagonal stripes in the colors turquoise, white, and flag green, with a gold star. Above the rectangle a thin horizontal red stripe. The dimensions are determined based on the width, which is divided into 14 equal parts. Each part is considered a measurement or a module. The length (of the flag) is 20 modules. The color set is:
  • Green: 60% cyan, 40% yellow, 10% black
  • Yellow: 100% yellow
  • Red: 100% magenta, 100% yellow
  • Blue: 50% cyan, 20% magenta
