The flag of MINERD can be seen plainly being held in a display online (photograph). Three flags are held, with a large Dominican Republic national flag in the center, the flag of a dependent agency on the Ministry of Education on the left, and the Ministry of Education's flag on the right. The Ministry's flag is pale blue with the national coat of arms centered and the name of the ministry in black script letters beneath.

The Ministerio de Educacin de la Repblica Dominicana (MINERD, Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic) is the Cabinet-level ministry responsible for overseeing education standards and policies on a national level. According to the Google translation of the Ministry's website, the Ministry of Education can trace its lineage to the Ministry of Justice and Public Instruction, founded in 1844. The education function was then passed to the Ministry of Education and Fine Arts on 30 November 1934, based on Law 786. The current Ministry of Education was founded on 28 June 2000 by Law 41-00, when the former State Secretariat for Education and Culture was split into the separate Ministry of Education and Ministry of Culture.

"Mision 1000 x 1000" (Mission 1000 x 1000) is a program of the Ministry of Education designed to improve the quality of education across the Dominican Republic. According to the Google translation of a press article, the program was begun in November 2008 with the goal of "1,000 teaching hours in quantity; 1,000 hours of teaching quality." Designed to last from 2008 to 2012, the program "addresses two central axes pointing to the modular aspects affecting the Dominican education system: the rescue of school time to comply with the school calendar and increasing the number of school hours devoted to teaching."
The launch of the program in 2008 coincided with the launch of a new Ministry of Education corporate logo to capture the essence of Mission 1000 x 1000. The logo was also used to make the flag for Mission 1000 x 1000, which, between 2008 and 2012, was often used as an official substitute for the Ministry of Education's traditional flag. After the program ended in 2012, the traditional MINERD flag was restored.
The flag of Mission 1000 x 1000, and the flag of the Ministry of Education from 2008-2012, featured the program logo centered on a pale blue field, as are nearly all of the flags associated with MINERD. The logo has the name of the program ("Mision 1000 x 1000") on three lines, one above the other, alternating between red and blue text. Below the name of the program is a graphic of the Dominican Republic national flag (without coat of arms) in the form of a swallow-tailed pennant. In a circle around the outside of the logo, alternating between blue and red, are words giving an overview of the program: "MIL HORAS DE DOCENCIA EN CANTIDAD," "MIL HORAS DE DOCENCIA EN CALIDAD," and "GESTION EDUCATIVA 2008-2012" ("One thousand hours of teaching in quantity," "one thousand hours of teaching in quality," and "Education Management 2008-2012"). Below the logo, in the same black script as on the Ministry's flag, is the name "Ministerio de Educacin." The flag can be seen clearly at the right of a photograph behind the conference table.
