Located in Higashi Osaka City Osaka Prefecture and established in 1949. The embroidered ceremonial hanging flag has dark green background with a gold, silver, yellowish gray and light green university emblem with gold border and green fringe. The university flag has green background with a white emblem in the center. (Source) The name of the school, Shoin, means "the shade of the camphor tree," or "in honor of the everlasting legacy of Mrs. Masashige Kusunoki," and was derived from the fact that the school was founded in Kawachi, which is associated with Masashige Kusunoki. His skillful military tactics and wits earned him the trust of Emperor Godaigo. After the establishment of the new Kenmu government, he became the governor of Kawachi and Izumi provinces, and was adored by later generations as "Lord Kusunoki," He was a military commander skilled in literature and warfare during the Nanbokucho period (1337-1392). The name of the university, "shoin," named in memory of Ohisa, who raised six children, including her eldest son Masatsura, after the death of her husband Masashige. The name "shoin" reflects the founder's deep affection for promising young people and her wish for their growth. The university emblem in the shape of "chrysanthemum and water" was said also to be derived from Kusunoki's war banner. It is said that the chrysanthemum symbolizes the Imperial Court and the stream of water symbolically represents the deity of the most important deity for farmers.
