Located in Wakayama City Wakayama Prefecture and established in 1949.
The formal university flag has dark red background with a white and black emblem in the center and horizontally written in white with the university name in Chinese characters. The emblem consists of the kanji word "大學" and a black background representing the Kuroshio Current, the symbol of Wakayama, and a white background representing the head of a wave. There is a logo flag used where either the flag is white with an orange logo or a variant using inversed colors.

The symbol mark flag has orange background with a white symbol mark and horizontally written white English university name.
Based on the four key words "nature," "vibrant," "community-based," and "global," a new symbol mark was adopted as a communication mark along with the university emblem that has been used up to now.
