established by Law No. 24,163 enacted on 12 June 1985. The university was
granted the title of "Catholic" by Decree No. 42, signed on 22 November 2008 by
聲gel Francisco Sim鏮 Piorno, Bishop of Chimbote.
The university is composed
of 5 Faculties (Health Sciences; Education and Humanities; Law and Political
Sciences; Accounting, Finance and Administration Sciences; Engineering).

The logotype is made of the short name of the university, in Arial Black
font, placed in an ellipse slanted 26 degree to the left, as a symbol of
firmness, modernity and growth. The full name of the university is written
below, in Times New Roman font, separated from the ellipse by a line. The
dimensions of the ellipse are 7 units on 5 units. The line is placed 1 unit
beneath the bottom of the ellipse. The overall dimensions of the lettering are
19 units on 2 units. The red color is prescribed as Burgundy, CMYK 35 100 98 2.
