Organizational Flag

The National Association of Rocketry (NAR) is the governing body for the sport/hobby of model rocketry in the United States. It was established in 1957 by Orville Carlisle and G. Harry Stine. The NAR flag is used at various launch venues, as both an advertisement and as a useful wind direction indicator for the Range Safety Officer. Some NAR Sections in the United States have their own distinct flags which they use in place of - or in tandem with - the NAR flag.

Some NAR sections do not have a distinctive flag and - if using a flag as a wind indicator - either use the United States Flag, or the 'B' Signal Flag (the latter being an internationally recognized symbol of a live firing range).
