Matt Dawson, the former England rugby star, has candidly shared how his opinion of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shifted after viewing their documentary series on Netflix. While not typically engrossed in royal affairs, Dawson, 52, tuned into the much-discussed docu-series and disclosed that it prompted him to reconsider his stance on the high-profile couple, who have been subject to intense media scrutiny.

In a revealing interview with the Express back in December 2022, Dawson confessed that his initial thoughts about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were altered by the programme. Globally, millions watched the intimate reveal on the streaming platform, sparking varied reactions.

Dawson initially thought: "In the first 10 minutes I was thinking, 'Oh no, this is like a woe is me type doc'."

However, one particular remark from Meghan struck a chord with him, altering his perception "absolutely and completely", reports Aberdeen Live.

It was during a touching moment where the ex-actress of 'Suits' fame expressed her desire for authenticity in the narrative of their lives: "The past six years of my life, books are written about our story from people who I don't know. Doesn't it make more sense to hear our story from us?"

Reflecting on Meghan's words, Dawson gained a new perspective: "I just thought, do you know what, in their environment and where everyone is going to have a view of Harry, because he is a bit of an adopted son to everybody after what happened in the past, I sort of thought, 'Ok, go with it'.

"We all want to know what they are like, so why don't we just get to see what they are like? It is what it is, but at least it's in their voice.
