A murder suspect was arrested after a Google Street View image showed him loading a bulky sack into a car boot. The shock picture shows a bloke bending over the Rover, covering a bulging white bag.

Another image, captured earlier by Google, appears to show someone pushing a white object in a wheelbarrow. Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

And cops said the Google pics helped unravel their probe into a 33-year-old man reportedly missing since November 2023. The photos were taken in Tajueco, which has a population of 56 people, in the northern Spanish province of Soria.

Police said Google Maps was “one of the clues that investigators had to use to solve the crime”. They added the footage had helped “detect a vehicle that could have been used in the course of the crime”.

The Google app allows users to see images of streets around the world, filmed by cars mounted with cameras. Text messages and other evidence led to the arrest of two people for allegedly killing and dismembering a Cuban man, according to Spanish media.

Police launched a probe when a relative reported the man’s disappearance after receiving messages saying he had found a new partner and would be leaving the area and dumping his phone. The family member suspected the messages were not sent by the missing man.

A woman, reported to be the victim’s lover, and a man, who was previously in a relationship with her, were arrested in November. Police found human remains, including a badly decomposed torso, buried at a cemetery in a town in Soria.

The remains could be from the missing person, officers said. The suspects have been remanded in custody and the investigation continues. It was the first time in 15 years that the Google car had been to the town of Tajueco.

One local who saw the online snaps said: “We would have never imagined he was doing anything and we didn’t think anything of it.”
