Features & Benefits
This product features aerodynamic porting to ensure high flow when a vehicle is in transit – a feature proven through wind tunnel testing.
The vent also has a seal device fitted to stop product spillage in the event of a tanker rollover or other accident. This has proven effective many times out on the road, protecting lives, averting danger and preventing costly spillages which also damage the local environment.
Most importantly, the vent’s design exceeds requirements for transport of petroleum fuel as listed by many national road regulations. This extends to the materials used in the vent, which includes flame-retardant stainless-steel gauzes covering the inlet and outlet ports, as well as a tough acetal polymer or aluminium body and Viton seals for compatibility with high-octane fuels.
Vents are fitted with rain caps and can be fitted either in the manhole cover base plate or on the tanker shell.
Technical Info
Vents come in 2-inch sizes as standard and weigh 0.49kg (1.08 lbs). Viton seals are shipped as standard, though seals compatible with solvents are also available. Please contact EMCO Wheaton’s sales team for different pressure and vacuum settings.
Aerodynamic porting facilitates extremely high throughput:
- Pressure: Air flow at 21 kPa = 198200 l/h (7000 cubic feet per hour)
- Vacuum: Air flow at 7 kPa = 99100 l/h (3500 cubic feet per hour)
Applications
This product is found on fuel carrying road tankers across the world. It can be fitted to the manhole cover baseplate or on the tanker shell.
Fuel tank pressure vacuum vents are fitted as standard on all EMCO Wheaton manhole covers.

This product is durable and proven to work across different road environments. That said, it’s important to keep such an important piece of equipment working in top condition. That’s why EMCO Wheaton provides repair kits, OEM spares and support from a network of service centres in every major market. Most changes can be made in the field, though more substantial repairs should be overseen by a qualified engineer.
