Helicopter Refueling
G457

EMCO Wheaton’s G457 is a nozzle designed specifically for helicopter refueling.

This product was originally developed for a major NATO partner to support quick turnarounds in time-sensitive combat environments, particularly when hot refueling.

As such, the G457 is virtually unmatched on the market and is the best option whenever safe, reliable and rapid servicing and refilling is required.

Safe Hot Refueling

Proven and Reliable Design

Automatic Shut Off

Features & Benefits

The G457 allows an operator to safely refuel a helicopter while its rotors are still running. Its innovative proximity lever eliminates the risk of fuel being sucked into the air intake, in turn removing the dangerous human error element encountered when hot refueling.

The nozzle will automatically shut off when a helicopter’s tank is full, minimising spillages. It also features a manual override mechanism to allow an operator to fill a tank to its absolute maximum. This is especially important in situations where a helicopter needs to remain airborne for as long as possible.

Other features include:

  • Anti-froth device
  • Fuel-resistant buna-N splashguard
  • 100 mesh inlet strainer standard
  • Black anodised finish for all-weather protection
  • Swivel integrated into inlet

Technical Info

The G457 can handle pressures up to 7.5 bar and can operate at temperatures as low as –30°C. High-level shut off is maintained down to a flow rate of 37.7 litres/min (10 US gallons/min). It has a working fueling flow rate up to 340 litres/min (74 US gallons/min).

Variants

  • Custom spout configurations available
  • Female BSP (ISO) or female NPT inlet
  • Range of ground cable lengths available

Applications

Hot refueling can be dangerous if not managed correctly. Yet it is also critical for helping helicopters get airborne in time-sensitive situations, such as combat environments or emergency response.

While originally designed for the defence sector, this product can be used whenever there is a need for rapid hot refueling without any of the associated risks. Alongside a major NATO partner, customers include the US Forest Service and Federal Aviation Administration.

Aftermarket

Servicing helicopters can take its toll on equipment, especially when hot refueling. While our products are designed to be durable and often last for many years, EMCO Wheaton nevertheless provides a full range of original spares and repair kits to ensure the majority of maintenance issues can be solved in the field. Whether you need new dust caps, grounding cables or even a new spout, we have the local network to get parts to you quickly.
